On the one hand, the video is an exhaustive timeline of events. On the other hand, it is frequently humorous and mocks its subjects frequently. Should we find a place in the MOASS section to use it as a citation? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pYeoZaoWrA&t=1s&pp=ygUYdGhpcyBpcyBmaW5hbmNpYWwgYWR2aWNl Daishoryujin95 (talk) 02:42, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There should be a line stating: Because the public was halted from buying shares, many bullish investors refer to the event as a "sneeze" in the stock's price action. per a plethora of sources e.g.: https://www.google.com/search?q=gamestop+%22sneeze%22+reddit&sca_esv=69fb379725caa853 Own authority: wooten.link/gme JFWooten4 (talk) 12:09, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Google search and Reddit links are not reliable sources. kemel49(connect)(contri) 18:16, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We are dealing with a fundamentally emotional market event. Accordingly, the sentiments are innately tied to communal expressions, particularly emotion adoptions therof. The official SEC GameStop report detailing this event specifically states that the price action leading up to the buy button getting shut off was not a squeeze, as was commented by EpochOfErra on April first. 💭 JFWooten4 (talk) 22:49, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notwithstanding, there are some non-reddit sources on 4chan and the 33rd page of Google results.

Under the "Scientific Research" heading, the article currently has:

"In January 2024, researchers concluded that there was a causal link between the Reddit/Twitter activity and the movements in the stock price."

Based on the linked source (a prepublication paper on ArXiv), I believe we should clarify that these were academic researchers from the Universities of Rome Tor Vergata, IT University of Copenhagen and Technical University of Denmark. This section is extremely brief (the quoted line comprises the entirety of the section) so I don't think including the institutions removes any valuable brevity here. I would therefore suggest:

"In January 2024, researchers from the universities of Rome Tor Vergata, Technical University of Denmark and IT University of Copenhagen concluded that there was a causal link between the Reddit/Twitter activity and the movements in the stock price."

If that is too long-winded, I would at least suggest:

"In January 2024, researchers from universities in Italy and Denmark concluded that there was a causal link between the Reddit/Twitter activity and the movements in the stock price."

To at least provide some geographical information and not just say "researchers", which is too vague in my opinion. TheRedshift (talk) 21:29, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add information about the Gamestop billboard posted in Times Square on January 30th that became the most upvoted Reddit post of all time (and still is: https://www.reddit.com/top/?feed=home&t=all).

The billboard was featured in multiple documentaries about Gamestop and seems like a relevant addition to the story. https://nypost.com/2021/01/30/redditors-buy-times-square-billboard-as-gamestop-stock-saga-rages/ Zeemus (talk) 13:39, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. PianoDan (talk) 17:02, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar (article can't be edited)

"he began investing in GameStop during the summer of 2019, after believing the stock to be undervalued" -- Please remove the word "after". It's redundant. Of course he still believed this when he began investing. 2A00:23C5:FE1C:3701:B083:B892:4359:3A92 (talk) 19:35, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
