  • The prose needs work, for one thing, @Ratnahastin:. I made several attempts to understand what the article is about from the lead section, but was unable to make heads or tails until I read the entire article. I am also not quite certain that I understand what "evacuation of mosques occupied by non-Muslims" means. This needs further explanation in the article and quite possibly better wording in the hook. Finally, I get a rather strong whiff of bias from the article. Surtsicna (talk) 15:49, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

When the post-Partition turmoil enveloped Delhi, Gandhi went on a six-day fast (January 12–18, 1948) two weeks before his assassination. Abul Kalam Azad went to Gandhi to ascertain Gandhi's terms for breaking the fast, and then Azad addressed a Delhi crowd of about three hundred thousand people to communicate those terms. Without exception they had to do with Muslim needs: the evacuation of mosques by non-Muslims....

Sorry, I replaced the 1822 reference with 18th century in the article text. Why is it important when the "first recorded claim" is? How can any one even determine that? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 23:38, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Title

I think the title should be changed to "Anti-Mosque campaigns in India". The lead sentence requires it, in fact! -- Kautilya3 (talk) 23:34, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A map should be added

I think a map of India should be added to the article depicting the site of the mosques where these claims have come up. DataCrusade1999 (talk) 07:01, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

List of disputes

this article has a list of ongoing disputes https://www.barandbench.com/news/11-religious-sites-dispute-india-7-uttar-pradesh since the publication of this article more disputes have arisen but this I think is a good article along with The Indian Express one for a list of ongoing disputes. Places of worship act

Recently Supreme Court of India ordered an stay on all fresh civil suit and also took up the challenge to Places of Worship act. I think this is related to this article and should be mentioned.

Where would it make the most sense on this article? Does it make sense to update the Places of Worship Act article instead? Qalb alasid (talk) 17:09, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It makes sense to mention the "challenge" to the PoW Act on its own page, but it's important to note that this challenge was made well before the claims currently being made by right-wing Hindu organizations. However, we should also include the challenge in the context of the anti-mosque campaign, as many of these claims are based on a specific interpretation of the PoW Act.
I propose that we include a detailed mention of the legal challenge in the PoW article. For the anti-mosque campaign page, we can discuss the PoW challenge within the context of "reclaiming" the disputed sites. This doesn't need to be lengthy—just four or five lines should suffice. If readers want to know more, we can direct them to the PoW page for further information. DataCrusade1999 (talk) 08:38, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
