Restricted by age difference
As I understand, "restricted by age difference" means that the younger party can legally consent if the age difference with the other party is small enough. However, the threshold for the age difference for each country is not provided, making the tables not very useful. Hb2007 (talk) 12:02, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong with sticky table headers?
It is rare for people to dislike sticky headers after I add them to a table. This is the article with the sticky table headers:
BRMYX23 removed the sticky headers and other table formatting. They also called my edits vandalism which is a personal attack. See: WP:NPA. BRMYX23 is a very new editor (May 27, 2025 first edit under that name). They have also been warned about possible edit warring.
Can someone else return the sticky tables? Then there is more than one person who wants them, and my time has not been wasted. @Jroberson108: can you have a look at the sticky version, and tell me what you think since you (like me) are an expert on sticky tables on Wikipedia. --Timeshifter (talk) 21:43, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Timeshifter and BRMYX23: I suggest keeping this article's discussion about its content, not other content or editors. Saying "Fixing major non authorised changes made to vandalise page" in the edit summary is unfounded. What authorization is needed and what vandalism was done? See WP:BOLD and WP:VAND. Warn on the user page and discuss there.
Regarding whether or not the headers should be sticky, it depends on the structure. This sticky styling is meant to help with readability. On tall tables when you scroll down and the column headers are no longer visible, can readers easily mix up or forgot the column headers? The same can be asked about "very" wide tables with row headers. The sticky styling helps with not having to scroll back and forth to re-read headers. Smaller screens need to be considered such as mobile, which accounts for almost 60% of the traffic.[1]
Reviewing the "Mexico", "United States" and "Rest of the world" tables. All three tables are tall, especially on mobile, and have three columns next to each other with very similar age data. In my opinion, this can easily be mixed up when column headers are no longer visible. The last table has more complex column headers and splits some of the age data (12 consecutive columns of age data, some spanned and some not), so it is more likely that users will have to re-read column headers.
For the "Mexico" and "United States" tables, I don't think Template:Sticky table start is needed, instead use Template:Sticky header because they aren't "very" wide, the text wraps, and most aren't going to read the "ref" column. The "Rest of the world" table should also have sticky column headers to help with readability even on taller desktop screens, but whether or not left sticky column headers are needed on narrower screens is debatable (left sticky requires Template:Sticky table start). My user experience is to scan for a country then read that data, or sort by region, age, etc. then scan and read their data. For the latter, I'm less interested in the country and more the region, but may scroll back to see the country, so left sticky may or may not help, but it's less important than having top sticky column headers.
Also, sorting on the ref columns can be removed as they serve no purpose. In the "Rest of the world" table, "Kazakhstan" and "Uzbekistan" have an inconsistent background color for "Asia" that is blue instead of yellow. Finally, there appears to be a misuse of the {{abbr}} template on the same table's "By age", "By authority", and "Unrestricted" column headers where it doesn't appear to be abbreviations and explained abbreviations, at least not explanations that can be easily guessed. {{abbr}} will not work on mobile where there is no mouse to hover, so the explanations are not accessible and should be above the table like a legend.
I think the "Rest of the world" table would be better with Template:Sticky table start. That is because the table is very wide making it difficult to see in cell phones. It needs to be left sticky too. Look at the table below in your cell phone (especially in portrait view). Or on your bigger screens narrow your browser window to see that the left column is sticky.

Is there any particular logic behind the (default) sort order of the "Rest of world" table? Of course it can be re-sorted using the arrows in the header, but how was the order of the rows in the page source determined? htonl (talk) 12:25, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
