The reporting is here. However, she still voted for Mike Johnson for speaker, and it is to be seen if she does not join the caucus when committee assignments are announced. If she ends up not joining the caucus officially and does not register as an independent, then she should be marked as a "non-caucusing Republican", similar to what's currently done for David Eastman in the Alaska House of Representatives. @Esolo5002 AG202 (talk) 03:12, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Senate Map

The Senate Map does not have an accurate legend item listed, to reflect the current status of West Virginia and Ohio. Yes, this will all be a moot point shortly, as those seats will soon be filled, but currently the map shows those states, striped. However, the legend for red stripe indicates 1 Republican, and 1 Independent that caucuses with GOP. That is not the current status of WV and OH. If that stripe is to be used, there should be a correct legend for it under the map, if that makes sense. Senate appointments

I see the party summary was updated to show the 2 senate appointments (Ohio and Florida) having been sworn in. I believe this is true. However, I don't see any source linked that shows they were sworn in already (and not merely just appointed)? Both OH Senator Jon Husted and FL Senator Ashley Moody were sworn in on the 21st per several sources. They are also listed at senate.gov, with their websites up: Husted, Moody. AG202 (talk) 23:58, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

List issues

@GoodDay: Not sure why we're having this discussion. WP:PROSE is policy. An article of this nature is much better off with written paragraphs rather than events. As a third-party who reads through these articles, I have to agree with GoodDay. The history section currently is too bloated and having a list of major events is much easier to read and is in line with previous Congresses. Having a whole paragraph about committee leaders is not necessary when they're listed later in the article. There's a lot of unnecessary detail: the nomination of Matt Gaetz is not relevant to the 119th Congress, Vivek having meetings with Gov Dewine is unnecessary to a general article about the Congress, and details about the Speaker election aren't needed beyond a sentence when 2025 Speaker of the United States House of Representatives election already exists. The Congressional Actions section is not written well either ("which are awaiting Senate"). It'd just overall be better to revert to what we had previously. I've since corrected a number of the errors that were made in the article within the new paragraphs, so @ElijahPepe: I'd highly recommend taking the time to check what you added ahead of time. No offense, the new "history" section you wrote is badly written. It's way too much information when we have pages that link to Thune and Johnson's elections, and going thru each and every committee lead change is twaddle. It's trivia masquerading as information to just list (you even have one link go unpiped to "French Hill (politician)"... If you want to maintain this information on a substack with all these minute details, sure, but it's overkill for an encyclopedia overview page. What I said in the edit summary when I trimmed the fat originally: "Cutting down from the rewrite that made this a pseudo-journalistic, diary-esque blow by blow that is far too detailed for an encyclopedia, let alone a summary on a legislative term page on it's second week. I'll just say, that I think the difficulty is a fundamental misunderstanding of what this page is. If you'd to start a separate page called "History of the 119th Congress" that's more prosaic and we link to it here, that's probably fine (though still think the detail level is way too high that's down to WP:RECENTISM). That isn't the purpose of this pages, which is to give a snapshot of its membership and actions for quick comparison. These literally are essentially list pages because it's what they're meant to do. Source for swearing in those 2 gentlemen, on the April 2 2025 Date? The source used in "party summary" doesn't seem to include an exact swear-in Date. It would be quite unusual (if not unprecedented) for someone to be sworn in only 1 Day after the election.
