Anandi is a simple and bold girl who lives with her parents and sister in the village of Sevarakottai. In the same village resides a ruthless loan shark named Suyambulingam a.k.a Suyambu, who preys on villagers by offering loans against their property. When Anandhi's father is unable to repay the loan, Syambulingam demands that Anandhi marry him in exchange for her father's release. Reluctantly, Anandhi agrees to save her father, but the marriage is eventually stopped. Later Anandhi moves to Chennai to find a job in order to repay the debt of her father. There she meets Anbarasan a.k.a Anbu, who hails from the same village. Later Anandhi gets a job at Mahesh Garments, where she clashes with Anbu who also works there. Unbeknownst to her, Anbu secretly expresses his love through the name of "Azhagan," sending gifts and love letters which makes Anandhi fall in love with him. Despite Anbu’s mother's initial disapproval, Anbu and Anandhi eventually confess their love after knowing the truth, and their relationship is accepted by Anbu's mother also and Anandhi decides to marry Anbu. Meanwhile, Mahesh, the owner of Mahesh Garments, falls in love with Anandhi and proposes to her, unaware of her love for Anbu. However, a series of manipulations by Mithra, a woman seeking revenge against Anandhi and desperately wanting to marry Mahesh, leads to Anandhi becoming pregnant with Mahesh's child. Both Mahesh and Anandhi are unaware of the pregnancy and continue to navigate the complications of their relationships. The story intensifies as Suyambulingam, holding a grudge against Anandhi and her family, seeks to forcefully marry her. As the situation escalates, Anandhi and Anbu reveal their relationship to Mahesh.
