Mayhem is a series of promotional concerts in 2025 by American singer Lady Gaga, in support of her eighth studio album, Mayhem (2025). The promotional tour consists of four stops: a headlining set at the Coachella music festival on April 11 and 18 (Indio, California); Mexico City, Mexico on April 26 and 27; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 3; and Singapore on May 18, 19, 21 and 24. The concert in Rio, which is free to attend and will be broadcast live, is expected to draw over 1.5 million people, making it one of the largest performances of Gaga's career.
Background and development
Coachella
Lady Gaga first headlined Coachella in 2017 as a last-minute replacement for Beyoncé, who stepped down due to her pregnancy. In November 2024, Gaga announced through her social media her return to the festival in 2025. Describing it as "a massive night of chaos in the desert", she explained that she had a vision for Coachella that she couldn't fully bring to life before due to unforeseen circumstances, but now she's ready to make it happen for music fans.[1]
Mexico City
Gaga's first two concerts in Mexico City took place on May 5 and 6, 2011, as the closing dates of the Monster Ball Tour.[2] She then returned to the city on October 26, 2012, with the Born This Way Ball tour.[3] After twelve years since her last performance in the country, two concerts to be held in Mexico City were hinted during the Brazilian press conference on February 21, 2025, indicating that Gaga would be offering "a couple of stadium shows between her appearances at Coachella and Copacabana".[4] The official announcement was released on March 3, with the event being dubbed as "Long Live Mayhem" and slated to take place on April 26 at Estadio GNP Seguros.[5]
Rio de Janeiro
Lady Gaga is set to perform a free concert on May 3, 2025, at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[6] She announced the event with the moniker "Mayhem on the Beach" on February 21, 2025, through her social media. Her statement coincided with a press conference at the Prio Theater in Rio de Janeiro, where the event’s production company, Bonus Track, confirmed its organization as part of the Todo Mundo no Rio initiative, in collaboration with the city government and the state administration.[7] Gaga stated that performing in Rio was an honor, acknowledging the support of Brazilian fans and expressing excitement for the upcoming show.[6][8][9] It's led by Bonus Track in collaboration with Live Nation, and sponsored by Corona.[10][11] This concert marks Gaga's return to Brazil after thirteen years, her last performances in the country being part of the Born This Way Ball tour in 2012, which included shows in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Porto Alegre.[12][13] She was originally scheduled to headline the Rock in Rio festival in September 2017, but had to cancel due to severe pain caused by fibromyalgia, the same condition that ultimately forced her to end the Joanne World Tour later that year.[14][15] At the time, she stated on social media: "Brazil, I'm devastated that I'm not well enough to go to Rock in Rio."[6] The phrase became a cultural reference among her fans.[7] At the concert announcement, Rio’s Municipal Secretary of Culture, Lucas Padilha, joked that she should now post, "Brazil, I'm not devastated anymore."[16] Attendance for the 2025 concert is expected to exceed 1.5 million people, making it one of the largest events of her career.[17]
Following Gaga's announcement, there was a significant increase in tourism demand for Rio de Janeiro.[18][19] According to various media reports, flight searches from Argentina to the city surged by 150% compared to the previous three weeks.[18] Meanwhile, the travel agency Despegar reported a 650% increase in airline ticket demand compared to the same period the previous year.[18] A similar trend was observed in Chile, where travel agency Cocha reported a 250% increase in searches related to the concert and a 136% rise in travel bookings for May, partly driven by a favorable exchange rate.[20] Most Chilean travelers opted for accommodations in Copacabana and Ipanema, prioritizing locations near the concert venue.[21] Additionally, domestic travel searches within Brazil to Rio de Janeiro also saw an increase of over 60%.[18] Reports indicated that more than half of these searches resulted in actual bookings.[18]
According to Airbnb data, searches for accommodations in the city skyrocketed by 150 times compared to the same period in the previous year, specifically for dates around the event.[22][23] Copacabana, the neighborhood where the concert will take place, became the most sought-after area, accounting for half of all lodging searches.[23] Most reservations were made by tourists from nearby cities such as São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, and Brasília, as well as from countries including Argentina, Chile, and the United States.[23] Alfredo Lopes, president of the hotel union HoteisRIO, highlighted the broader economic benefits of such events, stating that they help "maintain stable occupancy rates in the city throughout the year and generate a positive impact beyond the hotel sector."[23] Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, CEO of Bonus Track, said the event aims to position Rio de Janeiro as a top destination for major international events, benefiting the city economically and in tourism.[24] Rio de Janeiro's mayor, Eduardo Paes, emphasized the positive impact of the event, stating that "it helps build our identity."[25][26] He also noted that large-scale concerts at Copacabana Beach have historically generated significant economic benefits, citing performances by Jorge Ben (1993), Rod Stewart (1994), The Rolling Stones (A Bigger Bang Tour, 2006), and Madonna (The Celebration Tour, 2024).[25]
Singapore

On March 10, Gaga announced via an Instagram post that she will be performing 4 shows at the National Stadium. This announcement comes after weeks of media speculation that Singapore "will be the exclusive host in Southeast Asia" for Gaga's "largest world tour in her career", and that Asian countries have "[missed] another opportunity" to attract Gaga to their country.[27][28] The concerts were promoted under the name "Lion City Mayhem" and "Mayhem Singapura" on Gaga's social media platforms and website, and "Lady Gaga in Singapore" under ticketing and sponsor websites. Gaga's concerts in Singapore will be her first shows in Singapore in thirteen years, since the Born This Way Ball in 2012, and will be Gaga's only stop in Asia for this tour.[29]
The concerts were booked with direct involvement from Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM), a corporate entity established by the country's Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Sport Singapore. KASM had also arranged a similar Southeast Asia exclusivity deal for American singer Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour in 2024.[30][31] However, unlike Swift's concerts, the Singapore Tourism Board confirmed that no government grants were provided for Gaga's Asia exclusivity.[30][31] The concerts are part of the Singapore government's continued plan to attract more tourism through "high-revenue generating concerts".[32]
Ticket presales kicked off on Ticketmaster on March 18 for Mastercard cardholders, with queue numbers in the waiting room for the event exceeding two million.[33] High website traffic also led to difficulties in logging into the waiting room and website crashes.[34] Minutes after tickets were released for sale, ticket scalpers listed event tickets on third-party platforms such as Carousell and Stubhub for exorbitant prices, including a listing of S$30,000 for VIP packages.[35] Further presales were scheduled for event partners Klook (March 19), KrisFlyer (March 20) and Live Nation (March 20).[34]
Gaga's shows in Singapore are already expected to have an economic impact. The country's flag carrier, Singapore Airlines, expects a boost to its first-quarter earnings due to an increased number of passengers travelling to Singapore for the concert.[36] Searches for accommodations in Singapore on hotel reservation sites Agoda and Booking.com surged by up to 358% after the tour announcement, especially in countries with significant fan bases like Australia, Taiwan and the Philippines.[37][38] Hotel room prices are also expected to rise by three to six times during the event timeline.[39] Given the greater maturity of Gaga's fan base, economists suggested that local communities will not experience the same excitement of Gaga's arrival in the country as was the case for Swift's concerts, but are optimistic that the concert series will still bring in substantial economic impact similar to those brought in by Swift.[39]
Broadcast
Gaga's Rio show — which is scheduled to run from 9:00 PM to 11:30 PM BRT — will be broadcast live on TV and the internet.[16]
