First mayor of Kuala Lumpur
In this Malay name, there is no surname or family name. The name Yusof is a patronymic, and the person should be referred to by their given name, Lokman. The word "bin" or "binti"/"binte" means 'son of' or 'daughter of', respectively.
Lokman bin Yusof (11 September 1910 – 13 May 1972)[1][2] was the first Mayor of Kuala Lumpur,[3] Malaysia since it was officially conferred the status of a city on 1 February 1972. He formerly served as the Federal Capital Commissioner prior to his mayorship. Lokman died on 15 May 1972 and was succeeded by Yaacob Abdul Latiff.
