John St. Ivany (born July 22, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL).[1]
Early life
St. Ivany is originally from Manhattan Beach, California.[2]
Playing career
St. Ivany was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round, 112th overall, of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
St. Ivany played college hockey for Yale from 2018 to 2020, and for Boston College from 2020 to 2022.[3][4]
Unsigned by the Flyers, at the conclusion of his four year collegiate career, St. Ivany was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on August 21, 2022.[5]
St. Ivany made his NHL debut on March 22, 2024, in Pittsburgh's game against the Dallas Stars.[6] On April 2, 2024, St. Ivany recorded his first NHL point, assisting on an Evgeni Malkin goal against the New Jersey Devils.[7]
International play
St. Ivany represented the United States junior team at the 2019 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.[8]
