DescriptionPrivate Simpson, D.C.M., & his donkey at Anzac.jpg
English: A 1918 watercolour painting titled To the memory of our hero comrade 'Murphy' (Simpson) killed May 1915. Heroes of the Red Cross. Private Simpson, D.C.M., & his donkey at Anzac, depicting a medic and his donkey helping an injured man back to base at Gallipoli. Despite the title, this was actually based on a photo of the medic Lt. Richard Henderson (1895-1958), who took up the role after Simpson was killed.[1] Printed in England and published by W. J. Bryce, 24a Regent Street, London, S.W. 1. 1918.
