Purpose of use

This image is used for the purposes of identifying the aircraft featured in it in an article whose primary topic is the aircraft concerned. Furthermore this image shows a specific variant (the IIF) in the markings of a specific air force in which it served (RNZAF), as well as showing the aircraft handling during a aeronautical manoeuvre. As the articles notes that few examples of the aircraft remain in existence, it is felt that use of the image for the stated purpose constitutes fair use.

As a unique historical image, this image could not be re-staged, Use of an alternative image would not adequately represent the aircraft and its role in context. The article notes that few examples of this aircraft type made it to preservation and so it would be impractical to produce a modern image. Thus a 'free' replacement for this image would be impossible to provide.
