Resnicoff is wearing a temporary kippa (skullcap) made for him by Catholic Chaplain George Pucciarelli, torn from a piece of Pucciarelli's uniform, when Resnicoff's kippa became bloodied after being used to wipe blood from the face of a wounded Marine in the wake of the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing.Reference: [1]
