Coronets were made from 1949-76, for 1955 the Coronet was now the base level Dodge, the Wayfarer and Meadowlark were dropped, upmarket models were the Royal and Custom Royal. It was available in 4 door sedan and station wagon. The 2 door hardtop coupe and the convertible were called the Lancer (the top model the Custom Royal Lancer) 1955 and 1956 models were nearly identical, but a more pronounced fin at the back on the 56 Engines; 230 cu in 6 or 270 cu in V8, (all Royals and Custom Royals were V8s) the sporty D500 model got the 315 cu in V8 |
