Hatone Gushiken (具志堅はとね, *birth year not publicly available*, born January 20) is a Japanese singer and singer-songwriter.
She calls herself "The singer with the widest range of songs in Japan." She is from Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture, and her nickname is "Hacchan."[2]
Career
Gushiken was born in Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture.[3]
She loved singing since she was a child and longed to be a singer, but she was shy about singing in front of people and had a dislike for it. She started playing the cello when she joined an orchestra with a friend in elementary school, and majored in cello in the Music Course of the Arts Department at Okinawa Prefectural Kaiho High School. After graduating, she went to Tokyo and entered a music university.[4]
While in school, she plucked up the courage to sing in front of people at a recital, and was scouted by the lighting director at the time (Tanaka). On December 18, 2021, she decided to debut as a new talent, "Happiness Hatone," from Moco Pro LLC, which operates the Asagaya Family Theater.[5]
Initially, she was scheduled to debut as a unit with the lighting director (Tanaka) under the group name "Otsumami Riron" (Snack Theory), but the lighting director withdrew just before the debut due to a broken heart, so the unit became a phantom one.[6]
On January 9, 2022, she performed her debut LIVE at the New Year's Sea Opening Festival at the Asagaya Family Theater.[7] At the same time as her debut, she decided to release her 1st single, "I Worked Hard Alone CD" and "We Worked Hard Together CD" simultaneously.[8]
She started performing live with songs that she wrote, composed, and arranged herself. At first, she sang with tracks (karaoke) she had made herself, but after her debut, she also began playing and singing with the sanshin, piano, and guitar. In her first track, "Poitte," she handled everything from lyrics, composition, arrangement, illustration, and video production by herself.[9]
On January 18, 2025, Happiness Hatone announced that she would be graduating from Moco Pro LLC, which she had been affiliated with since the beginning of her career. On the same day, "Happiness Hatone's Birthday Festival & Moco Pro Graduation Ceremony" was held at the Asagaya Family Theater.[10]
On March 8, 2025, Happiness Hatone announced that she would be changing the name she had been using since the beginning of her career. On the same day, "Happiness Hatone and Tani-san's Private Talk" was held at the Asagaya Family Theater, and her new name, "Hatone Gushiken," was announced.[11]
Personality and Episodes
She can play a wide range of instruments, including the sanshin, cello, guitar, saxophone, and piano.[12]
The origin of the name "Happiness Hatone" is that she and her friends in high school used to send messages with names such as "Happiness 〇〇" in their LINE names. At that time, she mistyped her real name and entered "Hatone," but she liked the sound of it and it became "Happiness Hatone."[13]
Her favorite foods are sweets, shredded cabbage, and Sakusaku Panda. Her least favorite foods are spicy foods and fish with bones. Her strength is addition up to two digits. Her weakness is ghosts. Her hobby is looking for properties. Her favorite four-character idiom is "Mu mi mu shu" (無味無臭, tasteless and odorless).[14] Her favorite entertainers are Sanma Akashiya and Tetsuko Kuroyanagi.[15]
In her childhood, she grew up listening to The Blue Hearts, Jitterin' Jinn, Go-Bang's, and Oasis.
In addition to the above, she has also been strongly influenced by artists such as Kiyoshiro Imawano, The Beatles, BOGUMBOS, Cocco, Spitz, LINDBERG, Judy and Mary, and Love Psychedelico.
After moving to Tokyo, encounters with artists such as Hiroji Miyamoto from Elephant Kashimashi, Ayano Kaneko, and Mahito the People from GEZAN further deepened her outlook on life and music, leading to where she is today.[16]
