The Goa Spiritual Festival (Marathi: गोवा आध्यात्मिक महोत्सव) is an annual spiritual and cultural festival held in Goa, India. Initiated in 2024, the festival features religious observances, spiritual lectures, and cultural presentations.[1]

It is organized by the Satguru Foundation and Shree Datta Padmanabha Peeth under the direction of Padma Shri Sadguru Brahmeshanand Acharya Swamiji.[2][3]

The Goa Spiritual Festival, established in 2024, presents aspects of Goan spiritual and cultural traditions. The festival's program includes religious rituals, spiritual discourses, and cultural performances, with a focus on traditions associated with Sanatan Dharma. 2024 Inaugural Event

The inaugural festival took place from March 14 to 18, 2024, at Tapobhoomi, Goa, and included participation from religious leaders and dignitaries.[5]

  • Shree Datta Jayanti Celebrations, including the performance of *Datta Bhiksha* and *Chhappan Bhog* rituals.
  • Go Poojan, a ritual of cow veneration at Shikeri Goshala.
  • Samudra Aarti, a ceremony of sea worship at the Mandovi River.
  • A procession to Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple.
  • Collective recitation of the Bhagavad Gita.
  • Cultural performances, including Kathak dance and devotional music.

  • Agnidivya Festival at Shirgaon, dedicated to Maa Lairai Devi, featuring a fire-walking ritual.[8]
  • Go Goa Goshala Program, focusing on cow protection and Sanatan Dharma preservation, with participation from Swami Chidambarananda Saraswati.[9][10]

Governmental Recognition

The Goa government acknowledges the festival as a cultural and religious event. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has publicly supported its role in spiritual tourism.[15] Minister of Tourism Rohan Khaunte's attendance further highlights governmental recognition.[16][17]

In 2025, statements made about the festival and Swami Brahmeshanand led to legal complaints and controversy.

  • A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against social activist Xencor Polgi regarding remarks made about the festival and Swami Brahmeshanand.[18]
  • An FIR was also registered against activist Rama Kankonkar.[19]
  • Legal proceedings related to bail were initiated by an individual involved in these complaints.[20]

The controversies centered around allegations that statements made by the activists were offensive to religious sentiments.
