Beñat Labaien (Vergara, Guipúzcoa, Basque Country, Spain, October 11, 1987) is a Spanish football coach.

Career

Labaien began his coaching career in the youth categories of Bergara K.E. while still a player, before moving to Madrid at the age of 17 to study INEF.

Atlético de Madrid

In 2007, he joined the structure of Atlético de Madrid to coach youth teams, working for two seasons before leaving in 2009 to become the head coach of the Juvenil "A" team at Agrupación Deportiva Parla. In January 2010, he returned to Atlético de Madrid as the assistant coach of the Juvenil "A" team, working alongside Fran Alcoy.

Spain U-17 National Team

For the 2010-11 season, he signed as an analyst for the Spain U-17 National Team, working with Santi Denia, Luis Milla, Julen Lopetegui, and Fernando Hierro as sporting director.

Real Madrid

In July 2011, he signed for Real Madrid CF, where he became the assistant coach of the Cadete A team and head of the youth football analysis department. During the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, he was the assistant coach of the Juvenil "B" team at Real Madrid CF alongside Fernando Morientes, and in the latter season, he also worked as an analyst for Real Madrid Castilla CF in the Segunda División.

Alcobendas Levitt

In the 2014-15 season, he took over as head coach for the second half of the season for the Juvenil "A" team at Alcobendas Levitt, in Group V of the División de Honor Juvenil.

CF Fuenlabrada

In the 2015-16 season, he became the assistant coach to Fernando Morientes at CF Fuenlabrada in Segunda División B.

Elche CF

For the 2016-17 season, he signed with Elche CF as an assistant coach under Alberto Toril in Segunda División.

Leeds United

In 2017, after receiving a call from sporting director Víctor Orta, he embarked on his first international experience, working as an assistant coach to Thomas Christiansen and later Paul Heckingbottom at Leeds United in the English Football League Championship.

Real Sociedad

In July 2018, he was recruited by Roberto Olabe to join Real Sociedad as the head of the club’s analysis unit. He worked there for four and a half seasons, assisting Asier Garitano and collaborating with Imanol Alguacil, contributing to a highly successful period for the club. Real Sociedad achieved three consecutive UEFA Europa League qualifications and won the Copa del Rey title on April 3, 2021.

Tokushima Vortis

On December 9, 2022, he signed as the new head coach of Tokushima Vortis in the J2 League.

Al-Wakrah

In July 2024, he joined Al-Wakrah SC in Qatar as assistant coach, forming part of Miguel Ángel Ramírez’s technical staff. He remained at the club until December, when the coaching staff moved to Real Zaragoza.

Real Zaragoza

In December 2024, he joined the Real Zaragoza coaching staff as an assistant coach to Miguel Ángel Ramírez.
