Bainbridge is a ghost town in Colbert and Lauderdale counties in Alabama,Near Muscle Shoals.

It is submerged under Wilson lake on the Tennessee River

History

Pre-Civil War

It was established in 1819

The first state highway was built through Bainbridge[1]

There was a ferry over the Tennessee river[1]

In the 1840s lots of people were moving to Florence and Tuscumbia[1]

Civil War

During the Civil war both sides wanted to get the rt.

1863

In April 1863 Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest Crossed the Tennessee river in Bainbridge and with General Phillip Roddey attacked the Union forces at Town Creek

1864

Summer

Members of the 4th Alabama calvary met the 2nd Union Calvary at Bainbridge.

Some of the wounded men gone to Bainbridge.

October 30th

General Hood crossed the Tennessee river at Florence and met General Gibson

December 23rd

The Confederates Were defeated in Nashville,So they retreated near Bainbridge,Then they built a bridge to cross the Tennessee river.
