His academic background includes a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, and statistics (CSMS) from Christ University, Bengaluru (1993-1996). Augustine George then pursued priestly studies, focusing on philosophy and theology, at Dharmaram Vidhya Kshetram, Bangalore where he earned a bachelor of philosophy degree in 1992, followed by a bachelor of theology degree in 2001. He was ordained as a priest in CMI Congregation, Kottayam Province[7] in 2001.

He later completed a master of computer applications (MCA) degree in computer science from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore (2003-2006). Furthering his research, he pursued an M.Phil. in computer science from Madurai Kamaraj University (2008-2009). He earned a Ph.D. in computer science, specializing in multi-document summarization and text analysis, from Bharathiar University (2013-2019).[8]

Academic career

Augustine George began his career as a lecturer in the department of computer science at Kristu Jayanti College, where he took part in curriculum development and student mentorship. He later held various leadership roles, including head of the department of computer science (2006-2013), dean of the Deanery of Sciences, director of the Kristu Jayanti College of Law,[9] vice principal, Kristu Jayanti College (2013-2020), and principal, Kristu Jayanti College (since June 2020).[10]

Under his leadership, the college achieved the "Clean and Smart Campus" award by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Government of India.[citation needed] The college has implemented various waste management practices, such as solid waste segregation, composting units, and wastewater treatment plants.[citation needed] Trees have been planted on the campus. Efficient practices involving LED lighting, solar panels, and rainwater harvesting systems have decreased the campus's carbon footprint.[citation needed]

Smart libraries, smart canteens and an adapted version of campus ERP systems have been set up across the campus to do away with paperwork and improve administrative efficiency through teacher-student communication.[citation needed]
