Delete - Unlikely search term - Searching it on Google yields no results where the term may be used - RichT|C|E-Mail 23:20, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment As the creator of this redirect I figure I can't vote either way, but the term "Cromwellate" does pop up occasionally in 19th century English texts (as can be seen by searching the term on Google Books), which is why I made said redirect. --Ismail (talk) 23:53, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- Keep. Contrary to the nominator, searching on Google does bring up results using the word in this context, particularly old works by Charles Badham and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. These results were found searching directly on Google rather than through Google Books. Searching on Google Books I was able to find those results plus other uses, such as this 19th century periodical. The article mentions Cromwell; I don't think it would be too suprising as an {{r from synonym}}. – Scyrme (talk) 00:46, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- As a note, of the results I saw for Coleridge some were later works quoting him such as Roberta Florence Brinkley's Coleridge on the Seventeenth Century (1955) and Robert Conquest's We & They (1980). A reader could, then, encounter the term in more recent works without having to dig through old 19th publications. – Scyrme (talk) 01:00, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

These should point to the same place and both seem far too vague. Compare unrelated Maoist insurgencies at Maoist insurgency in Bangladesh, Maoist insurgency in Turkey and Internal conflict in Peru. I guess we may need a disambiguation page or retarget to Maoism. The second was created by a sock apparently known for questionable redirect creations (albeit before the block so not eligible for G5), and the first by a user with a grand total of two edits. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:28, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to People's war: This covers the concept of Maoist insurgencies broadly and has a list of them, for all intents and purposes with a lot of them specifically being called "Maoist insurgency in X". TartarTorte 23:05, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget both to People's war per TartarTorte. The article explicitly mentions both "insurgency" and "insurgents", so it would not be surprising. Readers looking for specific insurgencies will likely find them at People's war § List of people's wars (which includes both current targets). – Scyrme (talk) 23:13, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Not mentioned at target. Only mentioned in some steroid templates such as Template:Structural properties of selected estradiol esters where it was linked, but I have edited these links to point to aromatic, which is the relevant property, as fatty acid is already linked with the redirect straight-chain fatty acid. the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject
. Wikipedia doesn't appear to have a general overview anywhere. The only mentions in articles are uses describing specific examples as such. - YouTube Top 100 → YouTube (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
This was decided at this AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/YouTube Top 100 to become a redirect to Billboard Social 50 which itself became a redirect when that page was moved to List of Billboard Social 50 number-one artists; however, this page was retargeted to YouTube 31 minutes after the close of the AfD back in 2013. It seems like there was not consensus for this to be an article as its own back in 2013, and seeing as there is no information on it and the unsuitability of Billboard Social 50, which includes data from far more platforms than just youtube, that it would be best deleted. - Delete. These all exist only because they were originally created at these illogical and improper titles in the first place, and were then moved (by me) to the correct naming format after I found them. It's just an oversight of forgetting to unclick the "retain redirect" checkbox (which is checked by default and has to be actively unchecked if the redirect is not desired, but is very frequently overlooked by many editors who perform page moves), and isn't really necessary to retain any of them permanently. This is a leftover from a request that was made at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. Someone had previously misspelled the scientific name of the fish in the article's title. That has been fixed and now this redirect remains. - Delete as D10. There's a link to it at Beebase which doesn't appear to be intended as a link to Google Chrome. Searching online, most results are for unrelated software, including the file browser. The closest relevant result I could find was a mention at History of Google: "
There were also rumors of a Google web browser, fueled much by the fact that Google was the owner of the domain name "gbrowser.com".[citation needed] These were later proven when Google released Google Chrome.
" If this is true maybe "GBrowser" was an internal name used during initial development, but that's just a guess and it's obvious that Chrome has never publically gone by that name. It's equally obvious that Chrome isn't the primary topic for the term "GBrowser". The title should be vacated for more appropriate use and allow redlinking at pages like Beebase (WP:REDYES). – Scyrme (talk) 18:54, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

- Predacon → List of Beast Wars characters (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
The article Predacons was redirected to List of Beast Wars characters#Predacons because of lack of notability to merit a separate article. The problem is, not all Predacons are Beast Wars characters. Indeed, the term "Predacons" was coined and first marketed about a decade before "Beast Wars" was even a glimpse in Hasbro's imagination. For the entirety of the six years that this page used to be a separate article, it covered the original Generation 1 Predacons in equal detail. There seems to also be incoming link referring to the original Generation 1 Predacons. This redirect should probably be retargeted (although I don't know where to) or converted into a disambiguation page. JIP | Talk 08:37, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Is it better to target the Transformers media franchise article as {{R from subtopic}} and {{R unprintworthy}} since the character faction spans several series? ― Synpath 18:28, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- It's technically two separate character factions within the same franchise, each in its own series. I imagine Hasbro has to reuse names periodically to avoid losing the trademarks. But I guess a retarget to Transformers would be a good idea anyway, unless a better target comes along or someone decides to actually add content about the factions. JIP | Talk 23:16, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

- @Paul 012 and InfiniteNexus: (I cannot ping the IP) I tried to close this as a dab, but was lost. Can you list the articles that should be part of the dab? If "the G1 Transformers" is Transformers: Generation 1, then that article has no mention of Predacons. The movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts says
Despite the announcement of the Predacons, no such member appeared in the finished film.
Does "the Beasties" refer to Beast Wars: Transformers? Also pinging the nom JIP and participants Synpath, Nosecone33 for help, regardless of whether they support a dab Jay 💬 12:20, 15 September 2023 (UTC)- For one thing, that the article Transformers: Generation 1 does not mention the original G1 Predacons does not mean it should not. The previous revisions of the article Predacons are still there, a mention of the original G1 Predacons could be added there, but heavily trimmed from the original article, only concentrating on the Generation 1 part and only including sourced material about the actual toys. For another thing, yes, "the Beasties" is the same thing as Beast Wars: Transformers. It was just renamed "the Beasties" on some markets for some weird reason. I don't know if the Predacons on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts were supposed to be the same Predacons as in Beast Wars as I haven't seen the film, but based on the article content, particularly the character names, it looks like they were. JIP | Talk 12:42, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- I've taken a stab at the disambig page at Predacon. List of The Transformers (TV series) characters is probably the target 67.70.25.80 was referring to, and indeed, the AfD's closure was to redirect to the TV series, though this was later changed when the mention was trimmed from the main TV series article. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:26, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

- Comment I intended to close this as nothing has been mentioned since August, and everyone has suggested some means of disambiguation. Abdullah II is, at least in the present, the WP:PTOPIC of this article, as he is the incumbent king. I don't think it was yet addressed, but currently Abdullah of Jordan exists in the same manner of a disambiguation page, between Abdullah I and II. Whether the disambiguation is done via its own page, or by a hatnote, it does seem as if there is precedent when clarifying which of the two kings is being referred. - I think it needs to go to either Twitter or Bird (transportation company), with a hatnote to the other article. An advantage of retargeting to Bird (transportation company) would be avoidance of hatnote clutter at Twitter. — Bilorv (talk) 00:52, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to Bird (transportation company) with hatnote per filelakeshoe and Bilorv. I have heard "Bird app" refer to Twitter more than the transportation app, but that can be fixed with a hatnote. 〜 Askarion ✉ 11:25, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to Bird (transportation company). A somewhat unusual case where I think it's more likely the average usage of the phrase "Bird app" more likely refers to Twitter, but the average person looking for "Bird app" on Wikipedia is probably looking for the app named Bird. Support a hatnote at whatever the eventual target is. Dylnuge (Talk • Edits) 19:31, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
- Comment (again): Not to intentionally make things more complicated or anything,[Humor] but after googling bird app, it appears that the term can also refer to actual 'bird apps' - e.g. bird identification apps. (A very brief search doesn’t reveal any articles on bird-ID apps, though, so maybe this won’t actually complicate things any more?) A smart kitten (talk) 00:10, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
- Disambiguate. Twitter as an article already has too many hatnotes, and while combinable, Bird Scooters I also find reasonable. Consider saying something along the lines of "Bird App is most commonly used as a nickname for Twitter, especially prior to its rebranding to X; Bird app may also refer to..." InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 15:56, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

- Delete as a vague and ambiguous search term per nom and Shhhnotsoloud. Both the current target and Cultural bias suggested above do not mention it. Anglocentrism would have been a good target, except that the original stub article was merged into Ethnocentrism and the content subsequently removed never to return, probably due to COATRACK/NPOV concerns. The utility of the Anglocentrism redirect was then questioned, leading to the soft redirect (maybe it should be rewritten as an article?). American exceptionalism excludes England bias and Anglo-Saxonism possibly excludes modern English bias. International English#Opposition and Cultural imperialism#British Empire also seem to be misdirections. I suspect that the creator really had Wikipedia:Systemic bias on their mind when they created this, which would have been a good target except that we don't have mainspace redirects to WP project pages. The day before, they were engaged in boldly rewriting the Wikipedia lede, and on the next day the New York City lede as a professed 'non-American'. I might have considered another soft redirect as above, but overall I think it is just not worth the trouble. StonyBrook babble 08:08, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

R#D10 situation, probably? I don't think this is a good {{R to subtopic}} (readers probably want info on electric grid security in general, not US electric grid security), and Electrical grid doesn't have much about security in it. An article was previously at this title, but it was entirely about the US and was moved to where this currently targets. (There's also Electrical grid security in the United States, which is a separate article, though I just started a merge discussion.) Skarmory (talk • contribs) 04:23, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- The merge discussion ended up linking Security (electrical grid), which points to Power system reliability#Security. That's probably the best target for now; I think I'd retarget there over deletion, since there is a bit of information about electric grid security there. Still, it's narrow, but that's probably more because it's three sentences and can still be expanded. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 21:07, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- I’m not familiar with the subject matter, but on the face of it I’d say either dab-ify or retarget to Power system reliability#Security per Skarmory (with either Electric grid security or Security (electrical grid) being tagged with {{R avoided double redirect}}). Retarget to English rose (epithet). People using this search term may be coming from the song (though a redirect from the full lyric "Goodbye England's Rose" already exists), but may also be looking for the woman that lyric referred to (Diana, Princess of Wales) or other women referred to by the epithet. estar8806 (talk) ★ 23:51, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- Out of curiosity I looked up pageview stats (90 days prior to today) for the articles linked from the proposed target. The top entries are:
- Kate Winslet: 1,388,904
- Kate Beckinsale: 1,229,169
- Emma Watson: 1,104,968
- Diana, Princess of Wales: 882,579
- The current target has less than 40k. Pageviews are an unreliable metric but this does seem to indicate that there is no individual who is the primary target, and so the phrase should target the epithet page. Also just noting that Goodbye England's rose does not exist, but Goodbye England's Rose does. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Retarget per nom; I realize I didn't actually write a bolded !vote into my previous comment.Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:41, 30 August 2023 (UTC)- Keep per Bernanke's Crossbow. Are any of the women at English rose (epithet) ever referred to as "England's Rose"? Maybe Diana, and only then in the context of Candle in the Wind. Googling for "England's Rose" "Kate Winslet" (as the most viewed article on an English rose per Ivanvector above) just gets me a bunch of articles which mention both Kate Winslet and Candle in the Wind 1997. Caeciliusinhorto-public (talk) 09:21, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to Diana, Princess of Wales, with a hatnote to the song, and to either the epithet page or English rose (a dab page where "England's Rose" entries would be appropriate). The comment above made me rethink this: pageviews don't give any indication of usage of this term to refer to those individuals, only a vague sense of how well-known they are in general. When I enter "england's rose" in Google I get about 900M results, almost all about Diana, the Elton John song, or horticultural websites. Google does continuous scroll now so I can't tell which page I'm on when I find results for anything else, but I scrolled an awful lot before I gave up without seeing any other usage. Then I searched terms like "england's rose diana", "england's rose kate beckinsale", and so on, and Diana was the most prominent by roughly a factor of 10; about 25M to 5M for the song; "goodbye england's rose" hit 14M for comparison. The redirect should target what readers are most likely looking for when they enter the term, and a hatnote can direct the minority of readers looking for the song or some other target. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:36, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

- Keep with hatnote to English rose. External search results are dominated by 3 topics: the song, Diana, and the cultivar of roses named "England's Rose" listed at David C. H. Austin. Results for Diana were not independent of the song, with most of them including some reference to the full title of the song "Goodbye England's Rose", so I would say that the song is the primary topic. Diana is already prominently linked at the current target. My first thought seeing the title was actually Tudor rose, the heraldic emblem of England, but external search results suggest it's a distant fourth. Searching alongside other keywords does bring up references to Tudor rose, so it shouldn't be ruled out that readers may be looking for it. Both the cultivar and heraldic emblem are covered at English rose, as is the epithet, so a separate disambiguation page would be entirely redundant. – Scyrme (talk) 19:27, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Not a plausible misspelling, delete. Mdewman6 (talk) 01:07, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- I'm looking really closely to see the difference, I think this is just swapping the "y" and the "l"? "Triglycerides" is quite a tough word to spell in general, and if it's just this one letter swap I'd consider this to be a very plausible/totally harmless redirect. Naturally we don't want to make a redirect for every single letter swappage in every word ever, but this has existed for 7 or so years and seems fair to include in an admittedly tricky word. Keep. Utopes (talk / cont) 02:09, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Comment single character transpositions are a very easy and commonly found form of typo. Any two adjacent letter swap would therefore be very plausible. -- 65.92.244.99 (talk) 20:55, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Common typing mistakes indeed, but not plausible misspellings, i.e., a misspelling that would intentionally be typed, which are the sort of misspellings that make good redirects. This is harmless, probably, but also WP:COSTLY and WP:PANDORA to support the notion that when an editor inverts two letters and reaches search results rather than the intended page, they should create a redirect. IMHO, we should not be encouraging that, and there is no problem with cleaning up such redirects. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:46, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- We have {{R from typo}} and leaving it be is not encouraging the creation of more. This was created in 2016, not this year, so isn't a newly created typo redirect. If it were a newly created one, IIRC, there's a speedy delete for it. Thus it would seem to be WP:CHEAP and not costly, as it's been there for several years unnoticed, not really breaking anything. -- 65.92.244.99 (talk) 03:36, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

- Keep and categorise as {{r from typo}}. It's an easy typo to make. Searching

externally provides plenty of examples of people making that exact mistake. It's even made it into publications at PubMed. I don't think this is necessarily a case of WP:PANDORA; other 2-letter transpositions are demonstrably not nearly as common, so they don't have the same degree of evidence for plausibility. – Scyrme (talk) 15:26, 7 September 2023 (UTC) - Keep as a {{r from typo}}. Term not mentioned at target or anywhere else on enwiki; there previously was an article at this title that was deleted per Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/PCSO-524_(2nd_nomination) where consensus was to delete, not redirect (though WP:G4 doesn't seem to apply). - Keep. This is a trademark name for
the compounda mussel extract. The deleted version of the article contained seven scholarly sources that mentioned it by this trademark name in the title of the paper. It is not unusual for trade names to redirect to the generic name, it aids searching, and there is no requirement for the article to mention any trade names at all. The redirect was created from the suggestion of Doc James in the AFD, and concurred by Sbalfour. I concurred also, so I created it. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:45, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- But "polyunsaturated fatty acid" is not a specific compound, but a class of compounds, so this is not a tradename for a specific compound. I can't see the previous article obviously, but it appears to simply be a non-notable product that contained polyunsaturated fatty acids. Without a mention, this redirect is more likely to confuse than to aid users. Mdewman6 (talk) 00:03, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- I disagree it would be confusing at all. We don't have an article on the specific product extracted from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel, but we have an article on the class of substances to which it belongs. Therefore a redirect is appropriate. In a nutshell (from the deleted article): "PCSO-524 is a patented marine lipid extract containing 30 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) including the essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. It is extracted from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus). PCSO-524 is the ingredient in several preparations including Lyprinol marketed outside the United States and Omega XL marketed in the United States." Here's one source explaining the relation betwee PCSO-524 and Lyprinol (both are brand names). Just do a search for PCSO-524 and you get all sorts of academic papers about it, including several on PubMed. Again, there is zero requirement for a general article to mention specific brand names. Anyone who knows enough to search for PCSO-524 would get relevant information. ~Anachronist (talk) 06:13, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

It does not refer to drunkenness (nothing about this emoji is drunk; see: 🥴, and searching "zany face definition" leads to no results for "drunk" or "drink"), and it does not refer to laughter (nothing about this emoji is laughing; see: the several other laughing emojis, and searching "zany face definition" leads to no results for laughing). Emojipedia, and all other emoji compendium websites, overwhelmingly refer to the definition of "silliness"; it is also called "goofy" and "crazy" as well as other synonyms, but silliness is still the primary definition that each source includes, which is where this redirect should point towards. - It's supposed to be the variation of weary face but ended looking like the variation of 😱. Thanks, Apple. Delete so searchers use the words equivalent of what they want to search instead. Aaron Liu (talk) 18:12, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- If this was intended as a reply to me, I'm not sure what you mean. It doesn't matter too much what looks like in any one particular implementation, as far as I know, and we're trying to help searchers who don't know what the words equivalent is. I think retarget to Emoticons (Unicode block) where it exists with the official name would be fine too and better than deletion which doesn't really serve anyone. - Delete. As much as I like to make up sentences with emojis (and I DO like it!) it is highly subjective across cultures and even individuals, plus "emoji" would be a hieroglyph-like language and this is not emoji.wikipedia.org but en.wikipedia.org - Nabla (talk) 22:03, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Retarget to Cat per Presidentman, or to Screaming where 😱 targets (since I've always found both quite similar). CycloneYoris talk! 04:29, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

- Keep or retarget. I believe that deleting this page would make it the only emoji without a redirect on Wikipedia. I see no reason for deletion. Enix150 (talk) 19:18, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Enix150: You keep making this argument, and, besides the fact that is isn't remotely based on policy, it isn't even true!. 🧙🏿 does not have a redirect, nor does 👯🏾. You say that
We should seek consistency in our coverage,
but that isn't an excuse for consistently bad coverage. As I said in a previous discussion, that's like saying "keep {unnotable article}, we need consistency in coverage of {topic}!" It's not remotely grounded in policy. You may see no reason for deletion, but this !vote is nothing more than WP:ILIKEIT. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 15:46, 9 September 2023 (UTC)- @Edward-Woodrow: the two examples that you posted are what are called "combined glyphs" that use multiple emojis combined. No one is arguing that every combination of glyphs should have a Wikipedia page, but all of the base emojis do. Again, deleting this one would make it the only base emoji without a Wikipedia article/redirect, and therefore inconsistent in coverage. Additionally, the votes have consistently been in favor of keeping/retargeting them rather than deletion. Enix150 (talk) 20:46, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

- (Nominator comment) I'd like to point out that the appearance of this emoji varies across devices, and its interpretation across individuals, further reinforcing my central point in favour of deletion: it is so vague that it could refer to a multitude of targets. With this level of vagueness, as what is fundamentally an arrangement of pixels could be interpreted in a multitude of ways, I still strongly believe that it is best to delete this redirect. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 15:53, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Edward-Woodrow: the Weary Cat Face emoji renders nearly identically across all devices and platforms. That argument may be valid elsewhere, but in this case there is very little difference between versions. Enix150 (talk) 20:55, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Commenting on this; the appearance does not change as almost all emojis have been updated to have virtually the same appearance on all emoji platforms, and most of these emojis have clear definitions defined via Unicode or via all platforms giving the emoji a name. If you're on windows and hit the windows and period key at the same time, you get an emoji menu. The name of this emoji is called "Weary cat" by Windows, Apple, Emojipedia, and every other website that has emojis. So, to that effect, I feel this redirect should be treated as if "weary cat" is the title's input. I personally think it should target the same place that the 😩 emoji targets, which is defined as the "weary emoji" by all emoji vendors, as "weary" (😩) and "weary cat" (🙀) represent the same emotion.
- As a side note, I would recommend you (Edward-Woodrow) (and also Enix150 for that matter) be cautious of possibly bludgeoning every emoji discussion with the same discussion points. Utopes (talk / cont) 06:06, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

- Retarget to cat behavior#Sleeping patterns as the most direct meaning, or (since that surely won't get consensus this late in the discussion) to just cat as the one unambiguous fact being conveyed. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:34, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Unlikely search terms/misspellings. Inverts the name of the journal for some weird reason (Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences), or preprends the publisher to it (Comptes Rendus. Palevol). Or LARGE CAPITALS WITH MISSING APOSTROPHES AND DIACRITICS. All garbage. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 15:45, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

- Keep Academie des Sciences Paris Comptes Rendus Hundreds of Google Scholar results for this one. The others seem less likely, but they all (minus the all-caps version) bring up a few hits here and there. Either way, if you follow those links, they all take you to the ADSABS database, which all lists "Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences, Paris", not "Academie des Sciences Paris Comptes Rendus". - Keep Academie des Sciences Paris Comptes Rendus per Presidentman, delete the others as unlikely search term. (Shamelessly copying the !vote above.) Carcharoth (talk) 19:55, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Keep all but the last one. The past history of this journal is a confusing maze of variant titles, as I learned once when trying to track down a paper listed under one of them. Redirects are cheap and this can help people who might not already know that they are the same journal to find it. But the all-caps redirect is clearly unnecessary. —David Eppstein (talk) 23:49, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Those are not variant titles! They're just bad and unused. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 20:40, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: These were probably created from lists populated from database entries by Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals. Some, for example, are linked from Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals/ERA pce journals. --Paul_012 (talk) 23:55, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Keep all but the last per David Eppstein; these all arise from the (IMHO crazy) chemistry convention to abbreviate any and all journal names. Bernanke's Crossbow (talk) 07:31, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- Only one of those is an abbrevation, and a bad one at that. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 20:39, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

- Keep all but the last per David Eppstein. They're correctly tagged with "R from misspelling" so they shouldn't be "offered" as valid links and automated scripts can detect that when they're linked to, something is fishy, but it sounds like these forms can be used sometimes even if incorrect / dated. (For all that Headbomb's work in standarizing mentions of this journal are appreciated.) SnowFire (talk) 06:34, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
