Questioning NPOV
This article seems to have been turned into something that is very non-NPOV. Looking back through the history it seems that it was once a more straughtforward biographical piece. Perhaps someone more familar with the article should consider reverting to one of those points.Circusandmagicfan 09:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Circusandmagicfan
- I did some revising to improve the NPOV, but then found the areas I found most objectionable had been lifted verbatim from the Independent obituary that was cited. Not only was that article non-NPOV, but it had some facts plain wrong; it made other statements that seemed questionable or poorly researched. Unfortunately, many media sources use the same original source for their articles or steal from each other, which can cause the same misinformation to be repeated across numerous sites. (For example, The New York Times stating she died at age 80; anyone can do the math and see that is wrong, yet many sources give the same age.) Ghost writer's cat (talk) 21:54, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
Kelly DiNardo
I have written a biography on Lili St. Cyr, which is coming out in a few weeks. I have found that there are several factual errors in this wikipedia entry and am slowly working to fix them. For example, she was not born in 1918, but 1917. I had made some of these changes and then they were deleted. I'm not sure as to why, but am certainly able to back up anything I've changed with primary source documentation or clarify questions regarding my changes if that is necessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelly DiNardo (talk • contribs) 22:42, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I am removing: "Because she spent final years in such seclusion, few people were even aware of her death, although Life Magazine did publish a brief remembrance in that year's year-in-review. Obituaries appeared in many outlets, its not supported by the facts and the source is a fan written biography, not one of the major obits. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 18:05, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

- I got a big red warning page when I tried to access your link, which didn't sound legitimate anyway. I've removed it. It's supposedly a source for your information that her birth year was 1918, however the Minnesota Historical Records have her birth year as 1917. Incorrect Link
The link to the film Runaway Girl is an incorrect link. There is currently no entry in wikipedia for the actual film. The imdb article http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0171707/ gives no further revealing details. I propose the link be removed until a correct entry is written. -Pamelakd (talk) 15:30, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
Is name a pun?
Is "St. Cyr" a pun on "sincere"? If so this article should mention this, for the benefit on non-native speakers.212.178.135.35 (talk) 10:55, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
Early years
As I mentioned above, many reputable sources have repeated unfounded or outright incorrect information in their obituaries, which has been carried over into the article (such as her age at death.) Even legitimate media sources can make a mistake, especially with details that no one is likely to be especially interested in (but they help fill out the article) or can't counter (such as where she got the name "St. Cyr".) Some statements appeared to be sourced, but on investigation I found the information wasn't contained in the source (The Independent obit, particularly) or weren't sourced at all (such as she and her sisters being raised by their grandparents, the Klarquists.)
I found a blog that had a lot of detailed information on the family. I know blogs are not allowed-- I got the warning when I tried to publish the page, but then it just published anyway when I tried to exit from the warning popup. So, it's there, for now. (I hope no one just reverts it because I revised the entire first paragraph and not all of it came from the blog.) The blog was detailed enough that I have to assume the information was coming from a published biography, although unfortunately she didn't give her source. And frankly, it seems to be as reliable as some of these obituaries from big names. Ghost writer's cat (talk) 22:40, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
