Shelby Smith (August 8, 1927 – November 6, 2020) was an American Republican politician from the state of Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas and served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War.[1] He served as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1975, then as the 39th Lieutenant Governor of Kansas from 1975 to 1979.[2][3] In 1988, Governor Mike Hayden named Smith as his secretary of administration.[2] Smith died on November 6, 2020.[4]
