Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Want to be a Magical Girl is a pilot animatic parody of magical girl cartoons, centered on Aika, a black magical girl who really doesn’t want the job. Since its March 2025 release, the ten-minute pilot has received 2.4 million views.[1][2][3][4]
Kiana Khansmith is a writer and director of mixed ancestry from Hawaii, known for Big City Greens (2018) and Pokémon: Path to the Peak (2023).[5]
History
The pilot is the passion project of Disney Television Animation storyboard artist and director Kiana Khansmith (Big City Greens), who posted the original character concepts on Tumblr last August just for fun. Khansmith said in her Tumblr FAQ that she's not sure where the project will go from here now that the pilot is out.
