"No Pole" is a song by American rapper and singer Don Toliver. It was sent to US rhythmic radio through Cactus Jack and Atlantic Records on February 12, 2025, as the fifth and final single from his third studio album, Love Sick (2023).[1] Serving as the opening track from the deluxe edition of the album, Toliver wrote the song with producers Cardo and DJ Fresh, alongside Dougie F.

Critical reception

Regina Cho of Revolt felt that the song "finds Toliver in his comfort zone with a moody instrumental for his descriptive lyrics".[2] In an opposite review, Maximilian Diehl of HotNewHipHop felt that "as the opening track on the record, one would hope for a good introduction", but "this certainly fails at that point, and it also serves as a good signpost for the rest of the album".[3]

Music video

The official music video for "No Pole" was released on March 3, 2025, over two years after the song's release.[4] It starts with Toliver and another man, who is his driver, in an abandoned supermarket parking lot late at night as their car runs out of fuel. After failing to find someone to help tow their car to the nearest gas station, Toliver goes inside the store for refreshments while the driver stays outside by the car. The driver sees a woman nearby using a lamppost as a stripper pole to dance and becomes mesmerized, while Toliver notices that nobody else is inside the store or the parking lot. Caught in a trance, the driver does not notice that the ground is turning to quicksand and Toliver comes outside to find the parking lot even more eerie than it was before.[5]
