Description
English: The "pohon beringin", also known as "gunungan" or "kayon" in Indonesia, is a figure that commonly seen in the theatrical performance of "wayang kulit", a type of traditional shadow puppetry in Southeast Asia. The figure would be displayed on middle of the screen before and after the performance. Although the figures are different with one another, they always symbolising where "a world loaded with creatures, in the water, on the land and at the sky".
