English: Herrerasaurus is a basal saurischian dinosaur from the Late Triassic period of what is now Argentina. It was one of the earliest dinosaurs from the fossil record, and for many years the classification of Herrerasaurus was unclear because it was known from very fragmentary remains. It was a lightly built bipedal carnivore with a long tail and a relatively small head. Adults had skulls up to 56 cm long and grew to 6 m in total length and 350 kg in weight, making Herrerasaurus the largest known carnivorous dinosaur of its time.
