This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Disambiguations. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Disambiguations|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Disambiguations. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Disambiguations

Walking falcon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This to me looks like a dab page in search of a subject. The term "walking falcon" is the literal translation of the generic name Phalcoboenus, but appears not to be used. Nor is the term attached to Caracara (subfamily) or the individual species striated caracara - or at least our articles do not mention it, and I can't find any sources that do. That leaves us with the "See also" of Buteogallus daggetti, which does appear to have the nickname "walking eagle", but we don't establish dab pages to accommodate See Alsos (and falcon should not be among those, in any case). Maybe this could be a redirect to Phalcoboenus, but even that would be an unusual move, as we generally don't make redirects for the literal translations of taxonomic names. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 10:46, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sabre Jet (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This dab page has only two good entries. It should be replaced with a redirect to the jet fighter, with a hatnote to the film per WP:TWODABS. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:59, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Interstitial (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This is not a valid disambiguation page. "Interstitial" is an adjective with many applications, and WP:Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Every entry on this list is a WP:Partial title match. Disambiguation pages are not lists of articles whose titles contain a particular word, and an (incomplete) list is not better than Search. Delete also all incoming orphan redirects: Intersitials, Interstital, Interstitials, Interstitially, Interstition, Interstitions, Interstitial (disambiguation). PROD removed by @Mast303: with no edit summary. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 12:00, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

I'm leaning more towards BLAR than straight deletion, but this isn't a useful DAB page. All entries are PTMs except for Procedural (genre) (which is just a redirect to Procedural drama). It would make more sense for this title to redirect there rather than the current situation. — Anonymous 17:23, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clarifying your position. Every nomination should clearly link to the policy or essay being invoked. Otherwise, one only states a personal like or dislike. Bearian (talk) 20:19, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Devlin (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

I no longer believe that the disambiguation is necessary as only The Green Album (Skankin' Pickle album) mention Steve Devlin by name presently. BangJan1999 07:03, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Steve Devlin of Skankin' Pickle is also named at Skafunkrastapunk and Skankin' Pickle Live. Steve Devlin is also the name of character in Stingers, played by John Brumpton, and a current defensive coordinator for the Ursinus Bears, named at List of current NCAA Division III football coaches. That said, none of these pages give detailed information about Steve Devlin, so I don't think they're overly helpful as DAB items. • For reference, I think the crux of this AfD is how we interpret MOS:DABMENTION: If the topic does not have an article of its own, but is discussed within another article, then a link to that article may be included if it would provide value to the reader (emphasis mine). Thus, the question is whether the information provided at the articles mentioned is enough to provide value to the reader. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 09:09, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Even if Wikipedia has very little to say about a subject, having a disambiguation page pointing to the relevant titles regarding that subject informs the reader that this is, in fact, everything that Wikipedia has to say about that subject. BD2412 T 22:20, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WP:TWODABS applies. Clarityfiend (talk) 06:11, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • That did indeed apply before my edit just now - there's also a village, but we previously had the link to that removed without anyone doing basic WP:BEFORE. Now that there's a red link with a blue link, standard for listing human settlements that have WP:POTENTIAL, so it's again fine with the guidelines.
