Final Fantasy VIII is a 1999 role-playing video game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) and released for the PlayStation and Windows-based personal computers. The eighth title in the Final Fantasy series, the game's story follows Squall Leonhart and a group of fellow mercenaries as they stop the sorceress Ultimecia from compressing time.
