Life and career
2022–present: "Smoke It Off, Let Me See Ya Move & ICEWHORE"
"Smoke It Off!", Lumi Athena's debut single, was released on November 21, 2022, through 25/7 Records.[8][9] and stayed on the billboard charts alongside "Let Me See Ya Move" for 18-23 weeks straight.[10] On February 20, 2024, it received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[11] The increasing traction of the song prompted a full EP of remixes,[12] including an instrumental, a remix with singer 'cade clair' replacing jnhygs, a mega mix involving cade clair, jnhygs,[13] and many slowed and sped up variations.
Lumi Athena's breakthrough single, "Let Me See Ya Move!" with Cade Clair, appears on the billboard charts. Released in July via 25/7 Records, the song has 1.7 million U.S. streaming and debuted at No. 26 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs.[14][15] Other versions of the song that were sped up, slowed down, and reverberated enhanced it. During the week of November 3, 2023, 2 months later, the position of the song went to No.29.[16]
"ICEWHORE" became viral on TikTok[17] and Instagram Reels[18] sounds due to its usage in Mewing and Looksmaxxing meme videos most prominent in 2023 and 2024.[19] In the videos, the creators place a finger to their mouth to make a "Shh" face, then gesture to their jawline to imitate mewing at the spectator, they combined the shushing face emoji with the deaf emoji ("🤫🧏♂️").[20] On November 9th, 2023, another TikToker @pablos_fat shared a video, in two months, it received over 13 million plays and 1.5 million likes.[21] A month later, on December 30th, 2023, Instagram user @aurachadfr shared a video of male users using Instagram's notes feature to mog others. The reel itself garnered almost 147,000 likes in a single month.[22]
