Ilana Wolpert (born May 31, 1993) is an American screenwriter, best known for her work on Anyone But You (2023).

Ilana was born in Florida and attended Pine Crest School, where she developed an early interest in literature and performing arts.^[1]

Ilana's appreciation for Shakespeare and the classic literature genre began as a seventh-grade student. “Ms. Brown, my seventh grade English teacher, was my favorite teacher at Pine Crest,” she said. “She really cared about her students and discovering their strengths. She was the one who really encouraged me and told me I was a writer. That was the first time it sparked anything for me—I was always interested in writing, but no one really told me anything about myself until Ms. Brown did. That was special, and I feel that year was the year that I also became really infatuated with looking at books in a different way and thinking about them and really embracing them.” Later, in the article on the Pine Crest Blog, Wolpert explained that “I had always been very into Shakespeare.” She further elaborated on the Bard's influence, saying, “His work always resonated with me. Some of my favorite teen movies are inspired by Shakespeare, like the romantic comedy Ten Things I Hate About You.”^[2]

She attended Duke University, graduating in 2015 with a double major in English and Theater.^[3] During her time at Duke, she deepened her appreciation for Shakespeare, which later influenced her work.^[4]

Ilana Wolpert started her career in TV shortly after she graduated from Duke University. Her big Hollywood break was High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019): where she first gained attention in the TV space^{[citation needed]}. Following her success she then went on to write Anyone But You^[5] which made $200 million for Sony Pictures, while costing only $25 million to produce.

She then went on to write I'm in Love with the Dancer from My Bat Mitzvah^{[citation needed]}.
