Ahmad Nor was a Malaysian Politician. He was former Member of parliament for Bayan Baru. He was a member of DAP and president for CUEPACS (1983-1986). [1]
Political Career
Ahmad Nor first foray into politics was when he founded Malaysian Nationalist Party and become its Deputy President.[2] He later quit the party due to power struggle.[3]
On 1st March 1986, Ahmad Nor took over chairmanship of the Socialist Democratic Party.[4][5][6] He contested 1986 Malaysian general election on Lembah Pantai and Kelana Jaya state seat but lost both.
Ahmad Nor later joined the DAP after 1986 Malaysian general election.[7] He contested 1987 Gopeng by-election but lost.[8]
In 1990 Malaysian general election, he won the Bayan Baru (federal constituency) and become the first Malay representative for DAP. [9][10] He did not managed to defend the seat on 1995 Malaysian general election.
In 1990, Ahmad Nor lost against Chen Man Hin for the position National DAP chairmen.[11]
In 1999 Malaysian general election, he lost against BN candidate Lim Choon Kim for state seat N25 Damansara Utama, Selangor
Death
Ahmad Nor (60 tahun) pass away at Kuala Lumpur Hospital on 11th February 2003 due to lung cancer. He was admitted to the hospital after Coma and hospitalized for three weeks. He was buried at his hometown in Alor Star.[12]
Legacy
A road have been named after him in 2014.[13][14]
