About me

My name is Mason Garrison; I am an assistant professor of quantitative psychology at Wake Forest University. My Scholar profile contains a list of my published research in quantitative psychology, biometrically-informed designs, and health inequity.

I have two lines of research that evaluate biometrically-informed designs for psychology and their application to understanding health inequity. In my substantive work, I focus on how individual differences influence the relationship between socioeconomic status and health. In my methodological work, I focus on developing and improving biometrically-informed designs, such as behavior genetic and discordant kin models. These designs strengthen our ability to make causal inferences by leveraging environmental and genetic information.

Major Contributions

Since joining Wikipedia in 2012, I have contributed extensively to:

  • Categorization & Categorization Templates: Systematically improving Wikipedia's category structure, ensuring accurate and consistent classification of articles.
  • AutoWikiBrowser Development: Optimizing the typo plugin for large-scale copy editing improvements.
  • Policy & MOS Compliance: Ensuring adherence to Wikipedia's style guides, particularly in medical and disability-related content.
  • Focused on medical language and careful terminology to avoid dehumanizing people who have such conditions and imply that their existence is one of suffering. See MOS:DISABILITIES, or discussion on the Words to Watch talkpage or WP:MEDLANG
    • Replaced suffering from (WP:SUFFER) with neutral alternatives. AWB replacements.
    • Replaced afflicted by with neutral descriptions.
    • Revised articles to replace substantives with identity- or person-first language, where appropriate (e.g., epileptics instead of people with epilepsy).

I also participate in various WikiProjects, including:

Hello, Smasongarrison,

I would think that editors/admins closing CFD discussions would be responsible for carrying out those decisions but I see that you are taking responsibility and handling emptying and merging categories. Thank you for offering to do that, it's appreciated! Liz Read! Talk! 01:16, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
