Namish Taneja is an Indian television actor and singer. He made his acting debut in 2013 with Sony Entertainment’s soap serial Ekk Nayi Pehchaan as Chirag Modi. Taneja is best known for his portrayal as Samar Surana in Main Maike Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo and Lakshya Maheshwari in Swaragini - Jodein Rishton Ke Sur.

Career

Early Work (2013–2018)

At age 19, Taneja marked his acting career debut in 2013 with Sony Entertainment family drama Ekk Nayi Pehchaan as Chirag Modi. He then went on to play Rohit in MTV India’s teen drama series MTV Webbed which was created by Vikas Gupta and produced under Balaji Telefilms. In 2014, he was seen as Sid in an Indian television drama series Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.

In 2015–2016, he bagged his first leading role as Lakshya Maheshwari in Colors TV’s popular drama Swaragini opposite Tejasswi Prakash which established the beginning of his career as an headline actor and earned him nominations for Indian Telly Awards and Gold Awards. In 2017–2018, he starred as Satya Ajmera in StarPlus' sports action drama Ikyawann opposite Prachi Tehlan.

In 2018–2019, Taneja personified his career’s one of the most loved characters as Samar Surana in a romantic comedy show Main Maayke Chali Jaungi, which was created by Ved Raj and directed by Dheeraj Sarna. The show aired on Sony Entertainment, where he was seen romancing Srishti Jain. The same year, he was seen opposite Jannat Zubair in a music video Kaise Main which was vocalised by Mohd Kalam.

Recent Work (2019–present)

In 2019–2020, Taneja returned to Colors TV with a socio-political drama Vidya as DM Vivek Vardhan Singh opposite Meera Deosthale. As the show ended, rumours of the star’s participation in Indian Reality TV Show Bigg Boss began circulating but he instead joined the cast of Dangal TV’s Aye Mere Humsafar as Ved Kothari opposite Tina Philip which aired from 2020–2021.

Later, he took a break from the small screen for a year and then made a television comeback as Advocate Aashish Tiwari in a Zee TV’s drama Maitree in 2023 for which he was assessed by his lawyer friend to help get into the skin of the character better, later taking an exit from the show owed to creative differences.[1]

His most recent work was the Colors TV soap Mishri, where he essayed the main male lead character; Raghav Dwivedi, which is the first Hindi adaptation of Colors Kannada TV series Lakshmi Baramma although the show concluded within airing only 122 episodes.

Personal life

He is a Hindu. Namish has been fond of dancing and acting since childhood. Taneja’s name has been romantically linked to numerous of his co-actresses which includes his close friends Tejasswi Prakash and Kanchi Singh but negating all these rumours, in 2017, he announced his relationship with his longtime-girlfriend Aanchal Sharma.[6] On 12th October 2024, he took to his Instagram to pen down a heartfelt note over his father's passing.[7]
