Summary

Description
English: A picture on sheet damage created by the galling phenomenon using a SOFS (TNO) test equipment. The damage illustrates a characteristic uneven surface. No continues lines or stripes are present but the whole contact zone is scratched implying wear below the surface layer. The pattern is consequently discussed as a sign of severe adhesive bonding between the surfaces and the damage must involve a clear change in the sheets plastic behavior and involve a larger deformed volume compared to mild adhesive flattening of oxides. “Severe adhesive contact” is possibly the same as “cold welding”, “friction welding”, “scuffing” or other wear phenomenon’s.
