  • Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
  • Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). It's been several months since the last newsletter, and a number of new GAs have been added to the quality content list. Intelligence Bulletin from the Subwave Network

  • A five-part miniseries and spin-off of Doctor Who, The War Between the Land and the Sea concluded airing this month on BBC One. The series will release on Disney+ next year. The conclusion of that series on Disney+ will officially mark the end of the co-production deal between the Beeb and the Mouse House that was first announced in 2022. While Doctor Who has been confirmed to continue with a 2026 Christmas Special written by Russell T Davies, its status in international markets has yet to be announced. CBeebies has also found an animation partner for a 52-part animated spin-off set to begin production next year and air across two series from 2027–2029.
  • The War Between will also receive a DVD and Blu-ray release on 27 February. A physical release of the soundtrack album for that series from Lorne Balfe will precede it on 30 January; however, it is already available on digital platforms. On 12 December, the long-awaited and long-requested tenth series soundtrack from Murray Gold was published.
  • Season 21 will receive a "Collection" release on 16 March, featuring a remastered episodes with new special features. Additionally a plethora of new audio and print stories are due for publication in early 2026.

Welcome to the 2026 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2026 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here, and a bot will set up your submissions page within one day, ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2026 WikiCup, the highest-ranking contestants will receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. This is the same scoring system that we had last year. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants are no longer eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Also, I have this article at FA. Now, you did a review the first time I submitted it (before I yanked it for lack of interest). You could simply copy/paste your first review if you wanted, clarifying that’d you’d reviewed it the first time.

I would really appreciate your help on any of these! 😃 Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:28, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Torchwood Declassified

Hi! I want to complete the merger on the talk page, but admittedly I am unsure where to find primary sources to source the Declassified episodes, especially since the BBC source doesn't cover all of the episode details (Like titles or post-Season 2 episodes). Would you know where I could find some sources that could incorporate this? Torchwood is admittedly something I'm less familiar with in regards to consistent sources. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 06:07, 4 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Pokelego999: This BBC Two episode guide lists the episodes and titles for series 1 and 2. I have home media sets for the entire programme, so I can check Children of Earth and Miracle Day sometime this week to see if the titles are actually listed there or not TheDoctorWho (talk) 07:09, 4 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho the BBC Two guide has different titles from what is in the Wikipedia article, which means that info is not verified by the source. Thus, that info is still uncited. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 01:30, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Pokelego999: Apologies, I only took a cursory glance at that source yesterday.
Taking a closer look just now, it does appear to me that the season 1 titles line up identically to that source, with the exclusion of "Welcome to Torchwood" (which was a pre-Torchwood special). If I'm still looking at it wrong and something still isn't matching there, you can trout me. My series 1 DVD matches the titles as well, and includes "Welcome to Torchwood". If the plan is to ultimately just copy those episode tables over as is, it may be worth changing that first episode from being numbered as "1" to "—".
For series 2, my DVD set just lists these as "Episode 01", "Episode 02", etc., again matching what is on the BBC source I linked yesterday. I can't find the titles on any official BBC source, and I didn't originally add those to the article (only converted them to the episode table). Metacritic and TV Guide however, do have matching titles. I believe either of these could be presumably used as a source, as I don't think their episode listings are UGC.
I haven't gotten a chance to dig out discs for CoE or MD yet, but the above linked Metacritic and TV Guide sources do contain entries for those as well (although for CoE, "Cracking" isn't part of the title in either source). I will say however, that I did grab the cases for those two series, and that CoE advertises Declassified as a bonus feature on the back cover, while the back cover of MD merely just says "Behind the scenes". I'll verify whether the MD set actually uses Declassified branding/title card for nothing other than the pure curiosity. If we source the tables from Metacritic or TV Guide that won't be an issue since they include MD as having two episodes; but if we strictly use the primary sources ({{Cite DVD}}), and there is no Declassified branding, then we'd need to consider removing those two. I do also want to note that Metacritic and TV Guide contain "Welcome to Torchwood", but both label it as "Episode 0". TheDoctorWho (talk) 04:36, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho I'll try to dig into the episode titles, but at worst I think the above two can be used as a fallback? But I'm admittedly unfamiliar with their sources' reliability. For now let me know how the search for the above two other seasons go. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 06:06, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Pokelego999: The DVD's for CoE and MD both contain Declassified branding on the BTS features, but the titles are very generic. For Children of Earth it merely says "Children of Earth Declassified", and then just uses the existing title card (the infobox image on the Declassified article). For MD, (what actually appears to be the first one by disc numbering), is titled "FX Special", while the other is just "Behind the Scenes". The effects special is broken up into segments (compiled into a singular video), and each segment has an independent title card (there's more than just the two there). Meanwhile, the BTS special has a Miracle Day-specific title card, that still uses the Declassified branding. TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:43, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho so I'd assume we use the BBC guide for S1/parts of S2, with titles for the latter from the other sources above, and then the primary sources for CoE and MD? Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 01:06, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Pokelego999: That'd work for me. You could also use the TV Guide and/or Metacritic reference to source the Children of Earth title as well (if you wanted to keep it as "Cracking Children of Earth"; if you're satisfied with "Children of Earth" declassified, then the primary source of course). TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:40, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha gotcha. I'll try to incorporate this into the article for a merger soon. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 03:45, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho trying to incorporate sources but I fear I don't know how tables work. I've incorporated everything into the article, but would you be willing to put the sources in the tables? I work primarily with visual editor so I fear I have no idea what I'm doing. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 04:43, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Pokelego999: Thanks for merging those. I got the references in the tables (a simple addition of titleR=<reference> to the code). If you're ever interested in jumping into tables more let me know, I'd be happy to give you a crash course. I made some other minor adjustments, such as renumbering the first series (as I mentioned above), and changing the redirect target to the main Torchwood page with links pointing to the episode list (just to maintain the split a bit better, and bring it closer in line with how Sarah Jane's Alien Files was handled). Question

Just wondering, do you know if Template:Episode table/part still has MOS:COLHEAD problems like you said it did on Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Doctor Who episodes (2005–present)/archive1? I'm currently gearing up for an FLC but in a bit of a dispute with another editor over the templates inclusion Olliefant (she/her) 07:00, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @Olliefant Hey, hoping I can also help out here as the main maintainer of {{Episode table}}. We had a discussion about this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television/Archive 40#Episode table/part. While it does seem that the issue TDW raised at their FLC does still exist, there's two alternate solutions: 1) List of Magnum P.I. (2018 TV series) episodes and Magnum P.I. (2018 TV series) season 5 (where the season is split into two separate tables at both articles), or 2) List of Stranger Things episodes and Stranger Things season 5 (where the part headers are modified to not display to its transcluded page). (There is also the solution suggested at the TV discussion, but it doesn't exist... yet.) -- Alex_21 TALK 07:06, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Olliefant: What Alex said. Also noting that simply hiding the headers during transclusion doesn't *technically* fix the COLHEAD issues for the page the table is housed on, but merely satisfies the FLC !voters enough to pass scrutiny. If running a GA or FAC on said season page, it's possible the issue still comes up depending on who's reviewing it. As far as I'm aware, we're just lucky enough (re: Doctor Who series 14) to have not yet faced issues for that. Crossing my fingers that we don't until a better solution is found, but if necessary, the Magnum solution would likely work in that case. TheDoctorWho (talk) 07:29, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for the answer, I'll go with the second solution as I think it'll probably be less controversial and I have no plans to get the individual pages to GA status Olliefant (she/her) 04:51, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Who series 15

Hiya! Hope you're doing well. I am (finally) getting started on my work for Series 15. I've expanded the writing section for right now, basing it off how Series 14 is formatted, and will try to get to the other two sections under development soon. Let me know if anything else can or should be added here and I'll get to it as soon as possible.

Otherwise, I would appreciate help with finding some info verifying executive producers for the series (Akin to the third paragraph in development in Series 14's article) as well as a source verifying the title change for this season akin to 14's case, as I am struggling finding those right now. I will likely include some info on the Disney deal falling out in this section once I get the chance to edit this more, but beyond that let me know what else you feel could fit into this section. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 06:09, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Pokelego999: It doesn't appear that were any additional executive producer's outside of the usual (unlike 14 Robinson exec prod'd Space Babies and Boom or Moffat exec'ing Boom). Moffat did however, executive produce the Christmas Special, if we want to throw that in, it can be sourced here. Here's also a few others that mention the core crew (Davies, Collins, Collinson, Gardner, and Tranter): Deadline, Variety, and IGN. I don't know if there's any that specifically refer to a title change for 15/2, but there are several that mention both numbers: "Whether you're counting this as season 15 or season 2", "Doctor Who’s second season (which some are still calling season fifteen)", "Doctor Who’s next series (number 15 or season two, depending on how you’re counting)". I'm sure I recall there being at least one that did explicitly mention it though, I can probably take a deeper dive later today. TheDoctorWho (talk) 19:51, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho Thank you! I've added these sources to the article and will continue adding more shortly. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 02:02, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho I've done some work on both Development and Reception. There's admittedly a lot less on series 15 than 14, but I did my best to incorporate all I could find.
-Filming had little overarching summary, and I was a bit unsure about just plopping in every filming location from the series in there; any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Whatever you say I can go back and add some stuff in there. We also need a source for the Wish World/Reality War filming blocks, which aren't at either episode article and likely in DWM somewhere, which I don't have access to.
-There was little overarching reception but I did my best by plucking from coverage of Robot Revolution and Reality War, as well as incorporating what else I could find into the mix. Let me know if I should add anything else to this.
Unless there's anything else that needs to be done, barring these two images and the necessity for cast images in the casting section (Which I struggled and failed to try and implement) I believe that is everything for this article hit up. Please let me know what else needs to be done for this article since I'm a bit less familiar with these types of articles than you are I fear. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 03:52, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Pokelego999: Logically, it makes sense to me that there's less on 15 than there was 14, given that the two seasons were practically filmed back-to-back. Most of the media were focused on 14, especially since it started airing while 15 was still in production. Regardless, it's not terrible, I've seen season articles pass GA with much less (Hawaii Five-0 (2010 TV series) season 9), so I have no doubt that it's passable with a comments from a reviewer once we're ready. It truly doesn't look terrible honestly has more coverage than 12/13, which are also GA's.
I'll look through my DWM archives in the next day or two and see if there's anything on those filming blocks (although I didn't subscribe to it until 15 was airing, so I missed the larger production windows, but there is still some filming info in the post-release issues). I personally feel like individual filming locations are better suited for the episode articles (when those exist, fine for season articles when they don't), but when I do check DWM, I'll see if there's anything else I can throw in or expand.
I'll also separate the cast into recurring and main before nominating and see if there's anything else about Sethu's casting that's fitting. I thought I read some quote from Davies about her family and housing choice in Robot Revolution that may slide in nicely. Again, similar to the 14/15 comparison I expect for 15 to have less since there was no change to his casting from 14. Gatwa has plenty of images to choose from, I'll also put one of those in, but as far as I'm aware, Sethu has no images on casting. I'll pick and choose for recurring/guest cast, where avilable.
Ideally, we can probably get this nominated by Tuesday/Wednesday (Friday at the latest), if you think it's ready, once I make the adjustments I mentioned above? TheDoctorWho (talk) 07:07, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho if you feel it's ready then I have no objections. I can try digging for some bits on Belinda's family/home life if possible tomorrow. Let me know if you need any further help with the rest of the article or if anything else needs doing. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 07:39, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

  • Due to the result of a recent motion, a rough consensus of administrators at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard may impose an expanded topic ban on Israel, Israelis, Jews, Judaism, Palestine, Palestinians, Islam, and/or Arabs, if an editor's Arab-Israeli conflict topic ban is determined to be insufficient to prevent disruption. At least one diff per area expanded into should be cited.
