Question from Gordon.m.phillips (18:58, 22 October 2025)

Hello,

Question from BaselineFindings (17:08, 4 February 2026)

Hi! I'm suggesting new edits for a page. To avoid COI I am not editing it myself, but proposed the edits in the talk section of the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:European_Science_Foundation. Is this the best way to proceed? Cheers! --BaselineFindings (talk) 17:08, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@BaselineFindings: Hi! I've responded on the article's talk page. Let me know there if you have any other questions. AviationFreak💬 19:12, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thanks a lot for your contructive advice (also a great learning curve!) I have made (substantial) edits to the page instead of replacing the whole article. I also added non-primary sources (the remaining primary sources are mostly related to current activity description). Could you confirm that the process is correct or how else should I proceed? Also, if as an external and non-involved reader the content no longer reads to you as promotional, could you remove the maintenance template to the page? Thanks again BaselineFindings (talk) 16:48, 16 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Systemsthinkingsystems (20:31, 7 February 2026)

thanks! Id love to make a new page about a woman that I admire. what is the standard for being an editor before starting a new page? --Systemsthinkingsystems (talk) 20:31, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Systemsthinkingsystems: Glad you're interested in creating an article! For a biography, make sure the person you're writing about meets these notability guidelines. After you've confirmed this, you can follow the steps here to create the article. Let me know if you have any other questions! AviationFreak💬 20:52, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from BrandsyncAfrica (10:21, 12 February 2026)

Hello is are there any criteria to meet when publishing an article --BrandsyncAfrica (talk) 10:21, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Yes there is! Typically, it is WP:General notability guidelines but there are topic specific versions like WP:NBOOK. Obviously, there is stuff like WP:Ignore all rules, but, I wouldn't worry about it.
I have transluded GNG below.

A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.

  • "Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.
    • The book-length history of IBM by Robert Sobel is plainly non-trivial coverage of IBM.
    • Martin Walker's statement, in a newspaper article about Bill Clinton,[2] that "In high school, he was part of a jazz band called Three Blind Mice" is plainly a trivial mention of that band.
  • "Reliable" means that sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media, and in any language. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability.
  • "Sources"[3] should be secondary sources. There is no fixed number of sources required since sources vary in quality and depth of coverage, but multiple sources are generally expected.[4] Sources do not have to be available online or written in English. Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability.
  • "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject or someone affiliated with it. For example, advertising, press releases, autobiographies, and the subject's website are not considered independent.[5]

If a topic does not meet these criteria but still has some verifiable facts, it might nonetheless be useful to discuss it within another article.

  1. ^ Moreover, not all coverage in reliable sources constitutes evidence of notability for the purposes of article creation; for example, directories and databases, advertisements, announcements columns, and minor news stories are all examples of coverage that may not actually support notability when examined, despite their existence as reliable sources.

  3. ^ Including but not limited to newspapers, books and e-books, magazines, television and radio documentaries, reports by government agencies, and academic journals. In the absence of multiple sources, it must be possible to verify that the source reflects a neutral point of view, is credible and provides sufficient detail for a comprehensive article.
  4. ^ Lack of multiple sources suggests that the topic may be more suitable for inclusion in an article on a broader topic. It is common for multiple newspapers or journals to publish the same story, sometimes with minor alterations or different headlines, but one story does not constitute multiple works. Several journals simultaneously publishing different articles does not always constitute multiple works, especially when the authors are relying on the same sources, and merely restating the same information. Similarly, a series of publications by the same author or in the same periodical is normally counted as one source.
  5. ^ Works produced by the subject, or those with a strong connection to them, are not evidence of notability. See also: Wikipedia:Verifiability § Questionable sources for handling of such situations.

Question from An Eolas Mór (18:33, 22 February 2026)

Hi, I want to create a new page on Wikipedia. Where do I start? --An Eolas Mór (talk) 18:33, 22 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@An Eolas Mór: Hi! There's a great guide to this here - let me know if you have any questions! AviationFreak💬 23:48, 22 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Bellybutton.webnode.page (17:27, 24 February 2026)

How do I create a citation? --Bellybutton.webnode.page (talk) 17:27, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) There are various ways to create a citation. One of the easiest ways is to use WP:Visual editor. It has a simple guide for doing so at Help:VisualEditor#Adding a new reference. Though, VE uses the next method under the hood. Wikipedia:Citing sources is a good reference (and guideline) for how to manually format references if you want to go that way. - Flower (she/her) 17:57, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Mrgoodfriend (21:15, 26 February 2026)

Hello. I really like your moniker, especially since my son is an ATC. I have created an article about a living person. I am quite confident it is worthy and relevant to be published; however, it is about a person with whom I am acquainted. Where can I put the article so independent review before publishing can be adequately obtained? I have followed all of the article creation guides, and the article is neutral, not promotional, but definitely informational for the group of individuals who are interested in the topic. Thanks for your assistance. Mrgoodfriend (talk) 21:15, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrgoodfriend: Hi, and thanks! This process is what Articles for Creation is designed for. The page I linked there has a blue "start a new article" button; that should guide you through the process and ultimately submit a draft for review. Let me know if you have any questions! Question from An Eolas Mór (23:34, 26 February 2026)

How can I move a sandbox into alive wikipedia page./ I tried looking in tools but nothing there --An Eolas Mór (talk) 23:34, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@An Eolas Mór: Hi, welcome! I've taken a look at your sandbox. I'd suggest you go through the Articles for Creation process that is designed to review new articles before they're published. If you visit this link, you should be able to submit your sandbox (you'd want to put "User:An Eolas Mór/sandbox" in the first input box). I will note that before this draft can be accepted, multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject will be needed to meet the relevant notability guideline.
