1857 – William Benson Storey, president of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway 1920-1933, is born (d. 1940).
1885 – The first through train from Chicago via Santa Fe lines arrives in San Diego.^[1]
1941 – The Prospector multiple unit passenger trainset debuts on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in operating between Denver, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
1979 – The first stage of Brisbane Suburban electrification (pictured) between Ferny Grove and Darra is commissioned by the Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen. It is the first section of electrification in Australia to use 25,000 volts 50 Hz overhead power supply.
