Erin Sarofsky is an American director and motion designer known for her work in film and television title sequences. She received a Primetime Emmy nomination[1] for Outstanding Main Title Design. Sarofsky is the owner and executive creative director of the production studio Sarofsky. She is also the co-founder of Her Index and the creator of Meet the Skrimps.

Early Life and Education

Sarofsky grew up in Levittown, New York, and attended Island Trees High School. She participated in space camp and took design classes at Parsons School of Design and St. John’s University. She later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a Master of Fine Arts in Computer Graphics from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She serves on RIT’s National Council[2].

Career

In 2001, Sarofsky joined Digital Kitchen's newly formed Chicago office as a designer, eventually becoming a creative lead. In 2006, while working at Digital Kitchen, she led the main title sequence for Ghost Whisperer, which received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Main Title Design.[3]

Later in 2006, Sarofsky relocated to New York City to work at Superfad as a creative director, managing campaigns for American Express and Comcast.

Sarofsky Studio

In 2009, she launched Sarofsky, a Chicago-based production company specializing in motion design, branding, and live-action content. The studio has collaborated with filmmakers including Russo brothers, James Gunn, and Nick Stoller as well as studios such as Marvel Studios, AppleTV+, and Paramount.

Sarofsky has directed commercial content for brands including Jeep, Menactra, and Zevia.[citation needed] She has also designed title sequences for television series such as Shameless, The Killing[4], Full Frontal with Samantha Bee[5], and WeCrashed.[6]

She appeared in the CBS News Sunday Morning’s Oscar special, "The Art of Film Titles,"[7] where she was interviewed by journalist Lee Cowan.

Other Work

Sarofsky produced the documentary A Mystery to Me, which received a Cannes Lions Award.[8]In 2018, she collaborated with Apple on its iMac Pro: Artist Film series, creating a short film using the iMac Pro.[9] She has also contributed creative direction for campaigns, including those for Sanofi’s Dupixent and Chevrolet.[citation needed]

Podcast

Sarofsky co-hosts Between the Key Frames[10] with designer and professor Austin Shaw. The bi-monthly video podcast explores motion design education and industry trends.

Personal Life

Sarofsky resides in Lake Forest, Illinois, with her family. She describes herself as a preservationist, focusing on restoring historic properties while updating them for modern living.[11]
