Draft:Superbet

  • Comment: This is fluffy, promotional, with low-quality sources. Whatever is sourced somewhat reliably is standard business news which don't make anything notable. Watch for sourcing such as this, which is pure promotion masked as news coverage. See history for two promotional bits I already removed. Drmies (talk) 14:59, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: Routine business reporting, interviews, and other primary sources do not establish notability per WP:NCORP.
To be quite honest, with almost a year in the making (this time around) and with now seven declines, I think this is getting very close to rejection. My advice would be to only resubmit when notability has been clearly established. DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:30, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: Likely does not pass Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). While the rewritten draft is structured better than its previous version, the key issues mentioned by the other reviewers in their decline rationales remain. Coverage of this company appears to be mostly trivial and passing, not in-depth.  Vanilla  Wizard 💙 18:40, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: The cited sources are simple routine announcements and churnalism. Ca talk to me! 15:23, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: Routine business reporting (investment raised, appointments, new markets or locations, M&A, etc.) does not establish notability. DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:14, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Superbet Group is a privately held betting and iGaming company headquartered in Bucharest, Romania. Established in 2008, it operates in multiple European markets, including Poland, Belgium, and Serbia, as well as in Brazil. The company provides both land-based and online gaming services, including sports betting, online casino, and lottery.[1]

History

Superbet was founded by entrepreneur Sacha Dragic in 2008. The company initially focused on retail betting in Romania before expanding into online operations with the launch of Superbet.ro in 2016. It subsequently released a mobile application and began developing proprietary technology through acquisitions such as Betler (UK), Superology, and Axilis (Croatia).[2]

In 2019, Superbet secured a €175 million minority investment from Blackstone Tactical Opportunities, part of the Blackstone Group.[3]

In 2020, it acquired a majority stake in Lucky7, followed by the acquisition of Napoleon Sports & Casino in 2021, one of Belgium’s largest gaming operators.[4][5]

In 2022, Superbet consolidated its technology operations under a new company, Happening, with hubs in Bucharest, London, and Zagreb.[6]

In 2023, Superbet Group has appointed Hans-Holger Albrecht (former CEO of Deezer), as Chairman of the Board.[7]

In 2024, Superbet Group announced that Sacha Dragic (Superbet’s founder) and Jimmy Maymann (a technology investor and former CEO of Huffington Post[8]) will be both serving as Co-CEOs of the company.[9]

Corporate Governance

Following the Blackstone investment, Sacha Dragic became Executive Chairman, while Johnny Hartnett, formerly of Flutter, was appointed CEO.[10] In 2024, Jimmy Maymann, former CEO of Huffington Post, joined as co-CEO alongside Dragic.[11]

The group has also promoted internal leadership in marketing and technology. According to Forbes Romania, its digital strategy emphasizes multidisciplinary skills, creativity, and advanced use of data.[12]

Technology and Innovation

Superbet Group and its tech subsidiary Happening have expanded their product and development teams across Europe, focusing on proprietary trading, AI-based personalization, and safer gaming tools.[13] In 2024, the company was featured at Data Talks and Techsylvania, highlighting its focus on innovation and data-driven decision-making.[14]

Recognition

Superbet is a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).[15] The company was ranked 11th among the world’s most influential gaming companies by Business Review.[16] According to SBC Events, Superbet has been cited for its cross-market cultural adaptability and localized customer experience.[17] In 2024, Superbet participated in several industry events, including SBC Summit and EGBA’s annual roundtable on sustainable gambling, reflecting its active involvement in European regulatory discussions.[18]
