Orginal description: One of my favorite redwoods that I've seen so far makes the cut for day three's photo for my 365 photos project. This massive tree is located near the parking lot at the Big Basin Redwoods State Park located on the San Francisco peninsula in California. You can see Erin at the base of the tree to get a sense as to how huge this tree actually is. I stopped into the headquarters to ask how old the tree is and they estimate that it is somewhere between 1500-2000 years old. I also learned that redwoods don't root much deeper than 5-7 feet, but instead spread their roots out sideways and lock their roots with other redwoods. Essentially the trees work together to hold each other up, which is a good thing as these trees are 200-300 feet tall!
