Tan-Kenneth Jerico Leka-Schmidt (born 3 June 2002), known as Kenneth Schmidt, is a German footballer who plays as a left-back or centre-back for 2. Bundesliga club Hannover 96, on loan from SC Freiburg.

Club career

A native of Freiburg, Schmidt joined the city's giant SC Freiburg from Emmendingen in 2017. He was promoted to the senior team in 2023 after spending three years with the reserves team. He made his professional debut on 17 March 2023 in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 game against Juventus.[1]

On 1 January 2025, Schmidt was loaned out to Hannover 96 on an 18-month deal.[2]

International career

Schmidt has represented Germany at youth international level.[3]

Personal life

He was born to a German father and a mother of Malagasy and Vietnamese descent.[4]
