This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Toys. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Toys|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Toys. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

List of Pokémon Trading Card Game sets (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

A very large and overly detailed list that fails WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Unlike something like Hearthstone expansions, which has coverage for the subject of expansions in the game as a whole, the subject of TCG sets does not have any SIGCOV I could locate. WP:NLIST requires notability as a group for the list to be considered "notable", and while a few individual sets have some standalone hits, the topic of sets as a whole does not WP:INHERIT notability from these standalone sets. The vast bulk of these sets yield little to no actual significant coverage, and nothing in the article is really worth preserving, as the bulk of content here either hails from unreliable sources or WP:PRIMARY sources.

I will also note that this topic does not inherit notability from the concept of Pokémon Trading Card Game. There has been significant discussion of the card game as a whole, but very little on the topic of *sets* specifically. As it stands, the subject is a failure of both INDISCRIMINATE and of SIGCOV, among other things. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 18:20, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep It's an exhaustive list of elements in a clearly notable fictional franchise that do not appear to be individually notable, so meets WP:CSC point 2. It's possible to break this down further into lists by generations and have this article be a list of lists. I see no reason this couldn't be cleaned up to look something like List of Magic: The Gathering sets, which is relatively visually appealing look at an arguably marginally more notable CCG franchise. Jclemens (talk) 06:26, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The CSC is a guideline for what common types of list exist; just because a list of a similar type already exists does not mean other lists of similar types are (Wikipedia:OTHERSTUFF). CSC does not override notability criteria, which is outlined at Wikipedia:LISTN: "Notability of lists (whether titled as "List of Xs" or "Xs") is based on the group. One accepted reason why a list topic is considered notable is if it has been discussed as a group or set by independent reliable sources, per the above guidelines; and other guidelines on appropriate stand-alone lists." Given nothing at Wikipedia:SALAT applies to this list, and I have already discussed how there is a strong lack of SIGCOV, there is still no indication this list meets LISTN.
I will also note your linked list suffers from identical problems to this one (A reliance on PRIMARY sources and a lack of demonstrated SIGCOV), which does not address several points I made in my nom, so it cannot even be used as a positive example of a list like this. It's why I linked Hearthstone in my nom, since that AfD illustrated actual SIGCOV for the topic, which justified a standalone split. There is nothing like that here, from what I have found. I disagree. You're making two arguments (this is a separate topic from the Pokemon TCG, this topic is not per se discussed by RS'es) that are both, in my opinion, overstating consensus for their conclusions ("reaching") and at odds with the other lists we actually keep. We'll see what others think. Jclemens (talk) 05:27, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I agree with Pokelego999 points in letting this stay, along with the need for a bit more polishing and formatting(e.g. more illustrations of the card icons etc. ), it can be a potentially good complementary article to the more general Pokémon Trading Card Game main article about the CCG. As it does feature significant milestones of the CCG History Villkomoses (talk) 14:11, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I am working on a better version of this article and plan on making incremental improvements. Mark999 (talk) 14:42, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep – Per above. As it is one of the TCGs and one of the most relevant franchises in the world, it is natural for WP:FORK to emerge with more specific themes. Svartner (talk) 05:24, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
