- Claims permission from author. Needs confirmation of that. Eeekster (talk) 02:39, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- What do I need to do? Do I need a letter from the author? Anyway it's been released under a CC 3.0 license so does it matter? User:Moby69
- The problem is that the source page indicates that the content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 license. Unfortunately that is not a free license, since it restricts commercial use of the image. What you need to do is contact the copyright holder (probably Ground Truth Trekking) and follow the directions at WP:PERMISSIONS in order to document that they are willing to to license the image under terms that allow anyone the rights of modification, redistribution, and use for any purpose, including commercial purposes. Basically, you need to show that they're willing to license the image under a free license (for instance, the CC-by-3.0 license currently, and presumably erroneously, claimed at File:MercuryFoodChain-01.png). Let me know if you have any questions. —RP88 23:41, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. I had actually spoken with the original copyright holder and he told me that he was willing to release this (and other images) under the "free" CC-by-3.0 license since that was what Wikipedia required. I'll get written permission for the change and/or see if I can get him to change the CC license on the source page. Thanks for the information. User:Moby69 Moby69 (talk) 04:39, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- If he's unwilling to change the license on the source page (which would affect all his content, not just this image), you can use the e-mail request, response, forward to OTRS procedure described at WP:PERMISSIONS to have him specifically indicate that he's willing to license that image under a license that WP considers to be a free license (cc-by-3.0 or otherwise). —RP88 04:47, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- The license on the source page of each image uploaded to Wikipedia has been changed, so I've changed the wording in my description of the files. Can someone remove the "possibly unfree files" tag? And thanks RP88 for all the detailed information, I won't make this mistake again. User:Moby69 Moby69 (talk) 05:06, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I've cleaned up the summary of the image and made sure that the URL identified as the source is the one that leads to the page that Ground Truth Trekking was kind enough to switch the license from CC-by-nc-3.0 to CC-by-3.0, since they didn't switch their entire site, or even all the pages that show the Mercury Food Chain image, but just the one "main" page for the image. Don't worry about the PUI tag on the image, it'll be removed after this issue is processed by an administrator. Now that all the issues have been resolved, I'm confident the image will not be deleted. —RP88 05:43, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Copyright for image belongs to graphic designer. Photographer cannot assign copyright that he does not own. No reason to include this image just for the autograph anyhow. There are abundant images of his race cars which adds much more to the article. Royalbroil 04:33, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- File:LexisNexis_logo.png (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Probably copyright and trademark violation. LexisNexis: "No part of the materials including graphics or logos, available in this Web site may be copied, photocopied, reproduced, translated or reduced to any electronic medium or machine-readable form, in whole or in part, without specific permission..." The logo as posted does not indicate permission received. Sctechlaw (talk) 07:11, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Sctechlaw, it's probably not a big deal, but this page is for listing and discussing images that are marked as available under a free license or public domain, but have disputed source or licensing information. The image File:LexisNexis_logo.png doesn't claim that the image is available under a free license, it's claiming that the image can be used under a fair use rationale (WP:NFC). For future reference, it's probably better to list an image at WP:FFD if you feel its fair use rationale is questionable. —RP88 00:37, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Actually, let me take that back. This is the right place to list this (under the catchall redirect to PUI clause at FFD). Sorry. —RP88 01:01, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Main concern is that this logo's use is on 3 pages that are near advertisements. The use might meet the non-free-content criteria, but since it looks more like an advertisement, and we must "avoid using a logo in any way that creates an impression that the purpose of its inclusion is to promote something", the non-minimal use and extent of use are what are of concern. Perhaps having it on the LexisNexis article is deminimus enough, and it should be left off the linked pages for Casemap and Time Matters. -- Sctechlaw (talk) 23:05, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I think its fine on the LexisNexis article. The other uses are a little questionable. —RP88 00:37, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Note: This image is currently tagged as non-free. If there is a dispute with the rationale, please tag the image with {{dfu}} or list it at WP:Non-free content review. Otherwise, unless there is another reason for listing here, the listing will be closed by an administrator and the image kept. AnomieBOT⚡ 02:39, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- This file is not free, according to the Argentine copyright law. This can be translated as "Political or literary speeches and conferences about intellectual topics in general, can not be published unless the author has explicitily authorized so. Parlamentary speeches can not be published for lucrative purposes, without author's authorization". It must be noted that Perón is dead, but he died in 1974 and copyright last for 70 years from author's death. MBelgrano (talk) 20:51, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
