Editing by proxy for a blocked or banned editor
Hello MauraWen, I understand that you may not realize this but editing as a proxy for a blocked or banned editor is strongly discouraged. I would caution you against complying with canvassing requests such as this off-wiki request on Commons to make proxy edits to an article by an indefinitely blocked user. See:[1] Netherzone (talk) 23:05, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Netherzone and Graywalls: I did not realize that I was editing as a proxy until I saw the reason why content was reverted on my Tor House wikipedia article. I had to look up the definition of "proxy editing" after I saw that. I have no interest in being used by others who are blocked on Wikipedia. I should have read the message and his request more carefully and been not so quick to correct what I thought was just a citation error. I definitely should have questioned why this editor could not do this edit himself. I apologize for the lack of judgement on my part. Thank you for explaining the revert, Graywalls, and reaching out to me Netherzone and explaining this to me. This will not happen again! MauraWen (talk) 19:25, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- No worries, Maura, thank you for the explanation. This is not the first time this editor has attempted to "bend the rules". Enjoy your time editing moving forward. Best regards, Netherzone (talk) 20:27, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
