The United States Office of Shipbuilding is a proposed United States government office announced by United States president Donald Trump during his 2025 speech to a joint session of Congress on March 4, 2025.[1]

Overview

Donald Trump announced the office as part of a comprehensive executive order designed to reinvigorate the United States' shipbuilding sector, as a means of competing against China's dominant position in the global maritime industry.[1][2] The office was planned be developed at the United States National Security Council. Measures associated with the office and development of the sector included increasing wages for shipyard workers, and employing the Department of Government Efficiency towards reviewing procurement actions.[2][3]
