Arena name
As of right now, the arena is still officially named the Gund Arena. Its stays that way until the City of Cleveland approves it and currently there are issues over the logo. I say put it back until its official. Secondly, is anyone really calling it "the Q" or is it just that wishes of Dan Gilbert? http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/sports/1123407175212320.xml&coll=2 ccwaters 22:14, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- The change was made official in mid-September so we are in the clear on this. From my experience locals might call the arena "the Q" but most do so wryly or sarcastically since the general feeling is that it's kind of lame for them to give the arena it's own nickname. There will likely be a period of time before we can say for sure whether "The Q" nickname will stick or not. Given that the letter is reportedly given prominence on a lot of the signage and that most of the local sportscasters who call the games for the Cavs will likely be instructed to call it "The Q" as much as possible, I think it's likely to catch on (although I am personally pushing for "The QLA").20:11, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
Suite number change:
There are only only 88 suites in The Q, not 92. Four were demolished and the space used to expand the VIP Club on the Huntington Bank Club Level for the start of the 2003–2004 season.
- Does anyone know if the above comment is still accurate or not?Assadzadeh (talk) 06:49, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:QuickenLoansArenaLogo.jpg

Image:QuickenLoansArenaLogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Renovations
The article says that Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert installed the 2005 renovations. Did he pay for them or did he have the taxpayers pay for them through the Gateway Economic Development Corporation? Does anybody know? Gateway is the, imho, toothless public/private watchdog agency of the arena and adjacent baseball stadium. Hanksummers (talk) 01:19, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Rename to Rocket Arena
Sent in a technical request but it has not been changed. Changed the title of a 2020 video game of the same name to reflect the change. Can someone check? HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 18:30, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

- I used 2020 video game for disambiguation purposes if that works that way it doesn't cause further issues. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 22:32, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Unless there is another video game named "Rocket Arena", Rocket Arena (2020 video game) is unnecessary disambiguation. 162 etc. (talk) 21:09, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Fair enough then. We'll go with the above option. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 22:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

- Struck the !vote above. @HalfOfAnOrange: As the OP, your support is implied. 162 etc. (talk) 21:08, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support with a hatnote on the arena page. While the name change just occurred, the video game does not seem to be well-established. On top of that, the name change caused a number of articles to be written across several major sources and none I could find make mention of the video game, which also suggests its not a widely known game. From a statistical view regarding WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, the arena page had 9,704 views over the last 30 days, while the video game had 828 over the same period. --JonRidinger (talk) 17:20, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, put the hatnote in to help distinguish. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 17:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support As per the press release, and a native Clevelander the arena is more known then the video game. Brotherbenz (talk)
I think we can close this now. Seems to be unanimous support for changing the title to Rocket Arena and changing the video game page to mentioning the fact it's a video game considering the arena will be WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 15:08, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- This discussion hasn't even been open for a day. 162 etc. (talk) 21:11, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose Per WP:COMMONNAME. Proof of a common name will have to show up in sources before the arena gets moved, Wikipedia is not a press release or advertising service for companies. I do support moving the video game only and disambiguating Rocket Arena in the meantime, though, since it can be argued there is WP:NOPRIMARY. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 17:40, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Normally I'd agree, but seeing as we're talking about an NBA arena in the middle of a season vs. a discontinued video game, this not only already has a large number of reliable sources to support it, but will quickly have additional significant amounts of PRIMARYTOPIC support as early as today since the Cavs are home tonight and again Sunday. SeatGeek, NBA.com, American Hockey League, and CBS Sports have already updated the arena name on their sites and ESPN and FoxSports will soon follow. Of note, using the Pageview tool, the "Rocket Arena" article was averaging around 20 views per day, but on February 18, the day the name change was announced, it received 292 views, followed by 316 on the 19th, and 150 yesterday. In fact, the article has received more traffic in the last 3 days (758 views) than the entire previous month (595 views). That suggests the arena is already at PRIMARYTOPIC status even though several sites have yet to update the listing. --JonRidinger (talk) 18:48, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- The arena is quite well known and would warrant it enough to be the Primary Topic. Plus the video game is discontinued so nobody will really go back to it. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 20:00, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- The arena is well-known - under the name "Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse". Will it become well-known as "Rocket Arena"? Probably, but this is too early to judge, which is the point. We cannot do WP:CRYSTAL and must wait for its name to stabilize in the majority of reliable sources. As one example, Triboro Bridge took nearly a decade for Robert F. Kennedy Bridge to become its common name after its name was changed. There is no real rush since most people will just face the minor inconvenience of a DAB page. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 21:39, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- WP:COMMONNAME isn't really a strong argument here at all since we're talking about an arena that has had 3 previous names, two of which were used much longer (Gund Arena for 11 years and Quicken Loans Arena for 14) than Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, a name that has only been around for 6 years. The Triboro Bridge name went back to the late 1930s and was formally named for RFK Jr. in 2008, so it had over 70 years of being known as such. Common sense also tells us that the shorter name (Rocket Arena vs Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse) is going to have no problem getting regular use just from that fact alone.
- WP:CRYSTAL is weak here too since we already have multiple national sources using the new name, it was very visible on a national broadcast this past Friday, and it will continue to get very high-level usage in multiple reliable sources. There's no real issue of "it might not happen" regarding the new name taking hold.
- The only argument is if the arena is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over the video game, and as I already showed, statistics already back that up less than a week since the name change, which makes sense given one is an NBA arena and one is a discontinued video game that lasted for about 3 years. --JonRidinger (talk) 19:09, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- All the local news sources here in Northeast Ohio have covered the name change, https://www.google.com/search?q=rocket+arena&tbm=nws&start=0&dpr=2 plus if you do a Google news search on the subject multiple websites have stories or post on the matter, and the game has been delisted for over a year. Brotherbenz (talk) 23:45, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- With most naming rights cases we just change the name outright since that's how it will be reported in all kinds of events (sporting, concerts, etc.) and most venues are sponsored from the get-go. The only exceptions are venues that took on sponsors relatively recently where it would just be a mouthful.
- This however would be short enough to warrant a change given that it has been mostly sponsored for quite a while. We can debate naming rights to the end of the world but that's a whole other subject. No need for disambiguation page given the situation. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 03:18, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

- Support Game isn't even currently active and there's a national ESPN game showing the name change (which probably was partially executed once EA let the Rocket Arena trademark lapse on their end and it timed to Dan Gilbert's latest rebranding crusade). And it can be argued that it's been 'the arena' casually even through the Fieldhouse era because of that name's length. Nathannah • 📮 02:19, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- I think we have a consensus. 6 support, 1 oppose in 7 days. Brotherbenz (talk) 23:38, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- Alright we can probably begin the closing process. Rocket Arena shall redirect to the arena and be the main subject while the video game will be demarcated as such. HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 23:40, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
