Your recent reports to AIV

A few friendly notes, just so you know:

  • Warning users, followed by another disruptive edit from that user, is generally a prerequisite for reporting to AIV
  • The reported user will generally need to still be actively editing. If no edits have been made in several days then the report will likely be declined
  • Some edits may not be appropriate, but still made in good-faith. Examples are those made by John lennon fan011. Here's it's best to try to talk to them and explain why their edits were not appropriate for an encyclopedia, before issuing any warnings

Exceptions include the most severe of vandalism, namely WP:BLP violations, or anything with legal consideration. Best! — MusikAnimal talk 19:14, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gettys, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Getty (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

NBA Winning Streaks

I'm not the guy who made the edit, but I can see why it was made. With Atlanta's streak well into the top 20, the streaks tied at 15 are enough to complete the top 20 streaks of all time. The title at the top of the chart does say 'Top 20 streaks', so the streaks now tied for 21st place were eliminated by that guy. 00:21, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

HI,

I'm a grad student at American University, and I am looking to get involved in the NBA Wikiproject. Let me know how I can help and what is needed most at this time!

The Who singles discography/Go to the Mirror!

Hi, "Go to the Mirror!" was an Australia only single according to what I've seen, and wasn't a US/UK single.

As for my sources, I use liner notes (thewho.net) and the book The Who by Numbers: The Story of the Who Through Their Music. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 20:40, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If it is worth noting, I did find that it was released as a promo only single in the UK, but wasn't released as a single to the public. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 20:53, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have made so many, but they make it easier to get from track to track. Plus each album has around 5-10 song articles. Beatleswhobeachboys (talk) 00:22, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hesitant to perform the block that you requested. Is there an "official" weight for these people? This edit, for example, seems completely reasonable. Unless we're bound to give exactly what's on http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/203145 for this guy, it seems rather silly to give a precise weight: it's going to change every time he eats dinner, and may even change from when he enters to when he leaves a bathroom. Unless we have some sort of project standard (which I will enforce, if presented with it), it appears to me much more reasonable to prefer a round number, such as 200 pounds in this case, over false precision. Nyttend (talk) 22:12, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Nyttend: Materialscientist blocked for a week. Yes, the NBA's site gives "official" parameters of these players. - Bossanoven (talk) 22:17, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Indenting your statement But I mean, is it official in the sense that this weight is used widely by people aside from the NBA? In other words, if the NBA says 201 pounds and we say 200, will the stats junkies think that we're wrong because we differ from what's said elsewhere? Nyttend (talk) 22:20, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fairly certain that the NBA intentionally uses fairly round numbers, such as to the nearest 5. And I'm fairly certain that WikiProject NBA uses the NBA as its source for this information. - Bossanoven (talk) 22:23, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Black Sabbath (album)

There is little point creating these templates as they will probably be deleted. I don't see much support for those I have already nominated for deletion. --Richhoncho (talk) 18:56, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

When you're sending reports to WP:AIV, please can you ensure that the reports are recent and that the user is still active? Any questions feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks :)--5 albert square (talk) 02:23, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:Negguhz

Why do you think it ought to be blocked? As you note, it's 2+ years stale; I don't see a need to block such a long-not-used account, but I'm open to being convinced otherwise. Nyttend (talk) 04:35, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, I mean, why do you think that we need to block anyone whose only activity was nineteen edits more than two years ago? In general, I won't block anyone who's so long inactive, regardless of the problem; why do you think I ought to make an exception here? Nyttend (talk) 04:41, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

REVOLVER (BEATLES ALBUM)

I do hope these redirects are keeping you amused, if not, they are totally pointless because the search function in WP is not case sensitive. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:27, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Richhoncho: I am done creating them, however, they are not pointless at all, as anyone can create a said case-sensitive titled article within Wikipedia such as in their sandbox. In effect, it might actually deter certain activity. - Bossanoven (talk) 20:29, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quite. You will have stopped some idiot wasting their time creating pointless redirects. Surely there is something you can do to contribute to WP? --Richhoncho (talk) 20:55, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think you mean to say I will have deterred the creation of garbage articles that libel the real thing. But, yes, I can do other things as well. - Bossanoven (talk) 20:58, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No I said exactly what I meant. There is nothing to stop somebody adding words or amending your redirect, or as you put it, "creation of garbage articles that libel the real thing." --Richhoncho (talk) 23:12, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I keep these redirects on my watchlist. I do admit it is somewhat ambiguous as to the usefulness of such redirects, which is a contributing factor to why I shan't be creating any more of them. - Bossanoven (talk) 23:34, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It might be more use to consider what you create before you create, rather than after. Might be wise to request speedy delete as author on a lot of your creations. --Richhoncho (talk) 00:58, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I respectfully disagree. I said it's ambiguous, as in it is not a good idea to pursue further exploits in this area. But I think that the redirects that I have created are good to have around. I'm not sure why you are so vehement about this topic, unless you merely mean to discourage future creations of this sort. - Bossanoven (talk) 02:43, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't particularly care about the redirects, but I do think they are symptomatic of an editor who is not considering what they are doing and what they will achieve. If I have made you think about what you are doing it will save you many deletions of your contributions. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:33, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

training day

Hello,

I recently corrected a plot point for the movie Training Day, and you for some reason reverted it back to the incorrect plot. Here is the relevant quote from the movie, showing that the blood test is indeed going to show traces of PCP in his system, and doesn't need to be faked

Five proven, decorated officers
         say you were the shooter.
         Investigators are gonna pull a
tube of your blood and test for
         intoxicants. Remember all the
         P.C.P. you smoked today?

Rollbacker

I have granted rollback rights to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, contact me and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. – Gilliam (talk) 09:10, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

What an awesome user page! Coolest I've seen on Wikipedia. Now the reason I'm here: Why did you revert my edits to DeAndre Jordan and Stretch four? Ryan Anderson is a way better example of a stretch four than Josh Smith. Is there suppose to be a capital letter there? For the Shaun Bradley page you also reverted, I'd say strong defense is a better way to put it. You didn't really give a reason for your reverts either. Please ping me. -DangerousJXD (talk) 22:22, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I'm overreacting but do you have a problem with me or something? You seem annoyed at me. Am I misunderstanding you? I think you're active and you're not responding to my questions. Also you complained to me about my edit summaries but then you complained to Bagumba? That gay bullet point you have there I was refering to Rudy Gay. The first one was before you asked me to do better and the other one was only half of that edit summary, the rest said fixed typo. -DangerousJXD (talk) 07:49, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@DangerousJXD: Yes, a capital letter belongs there. I'd say that 6'9" or taller is extremely tall. 7'7" is the tallest height in NBA history. Feel free to re-add your picture in. As for Bradley, I don't think it's POV to state that because the fact is that he was an outstanding player at that level at that point in time. I'll try to do a better job with my edit summaries to keep you informed. Regards, - Bossanoven (talk) 07:52, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But why did you change the picture back then? -DangerousJXD (talk) 08:00, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It was an honest mistake. - Bossanoven (talk) 08:01, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK then, and (sorry should have put this in the first reply) why does a capital belong there and 6'9 is not extremely tall in basketball I'd say 7'3 or more. I will ad that Anderson picture shortly. -DangerousJXD (talk) 08:08, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
