About Us

We are a community-driven project; however, we have no official position within Wikipedia. We are mainly a group striving for the same goals for Wikipedia. If you have something to add to this page, then add it. If you have a task, or way we could accomplish a task, then please tell us.

Our Goal

Our goal, put very simply, is to make the community more fair and just towards all of its editors. An editor should not be denied any privilege on Wikipedia because of the morals, beliefs or personal preferences they display, unless by doing so they breach the Wikipedia's policies.

The Understanding of Rights & Responsibility as a Wikipedian

Every individual in our community has the right to express their own opinion, and we all should be allowed to do so in an appropriate manner. Editors should not discriminate against other editors for their beliefs or how they express them, so long as they have behaved in an appropriate manner. If you have an issue with any user because of their actions, express your concerns to them in private (not in a public discussion, for instance) and do not hold their actions against them, providing they were within Wikipedia's policies and were acting in good faith.

As users become more experienced, it is quite a common sight to see them moving farther away from these principles. These five pillars are the key parts of Wikipedia. At all times, they must be respected, whether it be Jimmy Wales or any new user. People need to think before they do anything: Am I adhering to these pillars?

People Keeping Cool Heads

One pillar mentions keeping a cool head in a hot situation. This is frequently broken, especially in high-profile straw polls. Editors often discontinue being civil. This has to stop.

In real life, would you start backstabbing people over one disagreement? I, for one, would not. People should remain civil, if not friendly, to each other at all times and try to find common ground between one another.

People should always follow Wikipedia's rules of civility, and they should be enforced more.

Warning tags

You can use {{civil1}} and {{civil2}} to display these (respectively):

Template:Civil1

Template:Civil2

You can place these on user talk pages when you think appropriate.

Tasks

Currently, we need to get this program running. A list of tasks are below, feel free to edit.

  1. Set up the temporary council and spread the word.
    Council set-up.
  2. Expand this page and create templates for our members to use.
  3. Change the current templates for controversial topics to remind people to maintain civility.
  4. Elect council for a 6-month term.
  5. Begin to spread word on the Five Pillars, even reminding experienced users when we think they may have forgotten, and get more people to treat each other respect. The manner we will do this will be decided nearer the time.

Members

Anybody is welcome to become a member, whether they have been a member for a minute or year, made 10 edits or 10,000. Add your name to the table below by adding {{user|YourUsername}} below (changing YourUsername to your username). You are welcome to add us to your signature, or add our userbox: {{User CJ}}, also please add your userpage to Category:User Wikipedia/Community Justice (to do [[Category:User Wikipedia/Community Justice]].

Governance

Currently, this Wikipedia Organisation is so small that we only have a temporary council. If you are interested in holding a long-term position on this council, an election will be held once we have about 30 members.

The organisation is run by a seven-person strong council. Councillors then decide on major things. The current seats in the council are:

  1. Chairman: Computerjoe (talk)
  2. Chief Executive: Ian13 (talk)
  3. Councillor: Pureblade (talk)
  4. Councillor: Alf (talk)
  5. Councillor: Xchrisblackx (talk)
  6. Councillor: Eddie (talk)
  7. Councillor: The Giant Puffin (talk)
