Biography

Born in 1939, Laaouini played for Union sportive tunisienne, Espérance sportive de Tunis, and the Tunisia national football team.

He made his senior debut in 1958-1959, impressing with his goal-scoring ability (five goals in the league and two in the cup). His talent led Espérance sportive de Tunis to pursue him, but his original club did not agree to the transfer. Laaouini then signed a B license, which kept him unemployed for a season. He later enjoyed a successful career, becoming the league's top scorer and winning a cup in 1964. He also joined the national team, which was playing few matches at the time.

In 1965-1966, he moved to Algeria, playing for Hydra Athletic Club, but failed to push the club into the first division. He returned to Espérance sportive de Tunis, where he spent three seasons, winning the coupe Hédi Chaker in 1968 and reaching a cup final in 1969. He concluded his playing career with a final season at Union sportive tunisienne.
