CITA International School is a private, co-educational institution located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Established in 1981, the school provides Nursery, Primary, and Secondary education with both day and boarding facilities. It is known for its strong Christian values, academic excellence, and commitment to holistic education

Currently, the nursery and primary school is sited on a well planned government residential area of Rumuogba Housing Estate in Port Harcourt,[1] while the secondary school on the Shell Location Road off the Port Harcourt Ring Road otherwise known as Ireibe/Eneka Link Road.

History

CITA International School was founded in 1981 by Madam Peggy Adukeh. It initially started as Fidelity Nursery and Primary School, later moving to its permanent site in 1989 and being renamed CITA International School—an acronym for “Christ Is The Answer”. In 2001, the secondary school (CITA High School) was established.

The school was founded on Christian principles, with the motto "Building on a Sure Foundation". Over the years, it has grown to become one of the leading private schools in Nigeria, offering value-based education and catering to both mainstream students and those with special education needs

Campuses

CITA International School has two campuses:

  • Rumuogba Campus: Houses the Nursery, Primary, and Day High School.
  • Shell Location Road Campus: Dedicated to boarding students

Academics

CITA International School follows a hybrid curriculum, blending the Nigerian and British education systems. The school prepares students for multiple local and international exams, including:

The Montessori method is incorporated at the nursery and early primary levels, fostering independent learning

Special Education Needs (SEN)

CITA runs an inclusive education model, offering specialized support for children with mild learning difficulties. The Special Education Needs Unit (SENU) also known as the Sunshine Unit provides individualized learning plans and therapy sessions
