A by-election was held for the Australian House of Representatives seat of Capricornia on 30 September 1967. This was triggered by the death of Labor MP George Gray.

The by-election was won by Labor candidate Doug Everingham.

Candidates

The ALP candidate Doug Everingham and Liberal candidate Frank Rudd were brothers-in-law, with their wives being sisters.[1] The Country Party candidate William Glenister Sheil was the father of future senator Glen Sheil.[2]

The Democratic Labor Party directed its preferences to the Country Party, following by the Liberal Party and the ALP.[3]
