Fáilte! Welcome!

Some Wikipedians formed a project to better organise articles relevant to Gaelic games. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians.

If you have any questions about the project, please enquire on the talk page.

If you would like to help, see the tasks section below. Advice on sources is available.

For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

Scope

This WikiProject aims to create, expand and improve listings relevant to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and its associated sports, i.e. Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, Gaelic handball and rounders. The scope of the project covers articles on these sports, their competitions, the county boards, club and county teams, players and other related matters.

Tasks

Are you a newcomer to Wikipedia or to this project? See here for beginners' tasks.

The All-Ireland SFC final (1 per year), as well as recent deaths of hurlers and Gaelic footballers (any time), are eligible for inclusion on the Main Page of Wikipedia!

Ensure that Category:Scheduled Gaelic games competitions and its contents are updated, with the competition removed from the category if it is no longer scheduled.

Ensure that the competition navigation templates are updated:

If you are interested in photography, you can help by:

  1. Adding/searching for people who are in the requested images category.
  2. Cropping File:Paul Murphy (hurler) and Jonathan Glynn.jpg to create individual photos of the two.
  3. Cropping File:Séamus Callanan and Aidan Harte.jpg for Séamus Callanan and Aidan Harte
  4. Cropping File:2010 Super Hero Fun Run Launch - 4875537977.jpg for Eoin Cadogan
  5. Cropping File:Graham Canty.jpg for Graham Canty
  6. Cropping File:Niall Healy and Pádraic Maher.jpg for Pádraic Maher
  7. Cropping File:Paulbrady2.jpg for Paul Brady (handballer)

Newcomer tasks

The following should not be too difficult to accomplish for newcomers to Wikipedia or to this project.

Biography
  • If you would like to begin a new biography, but are still unsure which are notable, you can help by creating the following missing football All Stars:
Note that some of these players may have pages already created under a different title. If this is the case, the template for that year's All Stars (Template:XXXX All Stars) needs to be altered to reflect the correct article name. See here for details on the layout of a typical player biography.
Linking
  • If you like to help repair links, you can help by completing the following redirects (created by page moves):
  • Babs Keating redirect
  • Gaelic Athletic Association template redirect
  • Camogie template redirect
  • Colm O'Neill (Ballyclough Gaelic footballer) redirect
  • Colm O'Neill (Midleton Gaelic footballer) redirect
  • Declan Ryan (hurler) redirect
  • Séamus Callinan redirect
  • Richie Power (hurler, born 1985) redirect
  • Tadhg O'Connor, not Tadgh? redirect
  • All-Time All Star Award (hurling) redirect
  • The Double (Gaelic Games) & The Double (Gaelic games) redirects for Double (Gaelic games)
  • Shinty–Hurling International Series redirect
  • 2000–01 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship redirect
  • Complete Corofin GAA (Galway) and redirect Corofin GAC to Corofin GAA.
  • List of All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winning captains redirect
  • All-Ireland Senior Hurling Winning Captains List of All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship winning captains redirect
Matches

Improve the worst of the first 52 All-Ireland SFC finals

  • 1896: not all of the match summary is cited; details section could be improved to 1895 standard
  • 1897: one citation
  • 1900: one citation
  • 1904: details section could be improved to 1895 standard
  • 1906: one citation
  • 1911: one citation, first appearance by Antrim and any Ulster team
Navigation templates
  1. {{Carlow county football team managers}}; see here for four of them (note that more than this are needed for a template, so please find others and add them to that list).
  2. {{Longford county football team managers}}; see here for some of them.

Problems to solve

  • Brendan O'Leary is described as playing for Wexford, but pictured playing for Kerry?
  • Is it "Whel e han" or Whel a han"? Simon moved from "a" to "e" in 2012. Brian moved from "e" to "a" in 2014 after a talk page request. Pad Joe has an "e" in its title and an "a" throughout the article.

As she is not infallible, it is advised to regard the list as a guideline only. Tedderbot may miss some Gaelic games-related creations, or she may include creations not linked to Gaelic games.
